the movie Pan's Labyrinth??

i have and i think is a great movie...Guillermo Del Toro does a superb job directing it.  If  you want to watch it, you better brush up on your Spanish language skills....even though it has captions in English, it's a  lot better if you know Spanish, even a little bit will do.

enjoy,

Rolando :popcorn;

Haven't seen this but I have seen the ads on tv.  Looks weird and too spooky for young children.

Jenna saw it - said it was good but pretty gruesome.
It's rated R for "graphic violence and some language."

I've seen the previews.  I think that's one I'll have to rent and watch at home... with the lights on.

hey guys, come on....this thread was for "El laberinto del Fauno" so has anybody seen it besides me and jenna?

Set in 1940s Spain against the postwar repression of Franco's Spain, a fairy tale that centers on Ofelia, a lonely and dreamy child living with her mother and adoptive father, who is a military officer tasked with 'ridding the area' of rebels. In her loneliness, Ofelia creates a world filled with fantastical creatures and secret destinies. With Fascism at its height, Ofelia must come to terms with her world through a fable of her own creation.

Yes, I've seen it, and I thought it was frightening and creative.

I spent a year at the University of Madrid just three years after the death of Franco, so his legacy was still palpable.  That gave this film some special significance for me.  I know enough Spanish that I could follow along without the subtitles, but I find subtitles interesting.

It is certainly not for children.

I caught your post and quoted it before you changed it. LOL Have to be quick around here!

Man----------you ARE quick, Kitkatz!!!

Rolando,  I heard an interview with the director recently.  Interestingly, he explained that for US audiences he changed  "Faun" to  "Pan" so American audiences would not get confused with the fawn in the forrest. I plan to see it this weekend.
