This is for Bill P. who asked about my son.  Thomas is currently is playing Jr. hockey with the Seattle Totems out of Olympic View. He's gone to quite a few pre-season camps for the Tbirds, Silvertips (Everett), Hawks (Ptl.) and out to Michigan a few times, but he's got aspirations to play in college and doesn't want to lose eligibility.  He's lived away from home during hockey season the last four years, and has spent some time up in Canada (mostly BC area).   Yeah, we love hockey.  In fact we're getting in the car today to drive the 6 hours for tonite's game.  Go TOTEMS!

If they make play-offs (expected) we'll be up there often in the next month.

I had never heard of the Totems (other than the Seattle team from the late '60s) but I found their website: http://www.watotems.com/index.php
Quote
Tonight two of the top three teams in the pacific division went head to head and the Seattle Totems came out victorious over the Eugene Generals by a final score of 7-6. The Victory moves the Totems win streak to 12. Tomorrow night the Totems will try to make it 13 in a row, when they play the Generals for the last time in the regular season. Puck drops at 7:00pm.

Congratulations Totems!

In the late 80's I had a season ticket package for the TBirds for a few years in a row. My seats were right behind the visitor's bench. I don't know if anyone remembers but there was an infamous incident where Seattle fans and players on the Tri-Sissys Tri-Cities got into a fight, with Tri-Sissys Tri-Cities players actually swinging their sticks at fans. Those were my seats. I am acquainted with the some of the people involved (I had sat near them and heckled with them for years) but I was not there that night. I heard it started with some comments about the visiting coach needing Rogaine- I guess some people are sensitive about going bald. I for one am trying to go bald gracefully.

Totems beat the Generals and tie league record!

The Seattle Totems tied the Norpac record with their 13th straight win last night 6-3 over the visiting Eugene Generals.Totems starting goaltender Andrew Gorski returned from a 2 gm suspension to lead the Totems with some great play between the pipes and earn the first star of the game! The Totems will try and set the record tonight as they host the Tri City Titans at 645 pm.

Win tonight to set the league consecutive win record. Beat the Tri-Sissys Tri-Cities! Go Totems.

Gorsky indeed had a great game.  However, the website is in error. Announced at the game, and as posted on www.pointstreak.com
First star - Thomas Stumpfig, Second - Tanner Schulze, Third - Marcus Ward.

Ice Hockey players can walk on water.  :)

After each hockey game,  three players are awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Star of game.  I guess this is recognizing the Players of the Game.  Many times they go to the opposing goalies. Its also done in NHL games.  Don't know the origin of this, perhaps some Canadians can explain.

Seattle crushed River City (didn't they have some trouble with pool a while back?) last night 12 to 3.  Thomas had two assists while he had two teammates with hat tricks.

Nice job. Tonight they'll go again. Go Seattle.

It was a 12-5 Seattle win tonight with three Totem hat tricks and a goal by Stumpfig. Is that the end of the season? On to the playoffs?

Hi Bill,

Looks like Totems will be in playoffs. Currently, 2nd place in division.  However, the big news is that 1st place Ft. Vancouver (Pioneers) apparently has been  paying  some of its players that were recently acquired from the east coast.  Lots of grumbling going around the league as to what the repercussions will be. Regardless, we'll get to see more hockey!  Thomas has been playing defense recently.  One of our players is a goon and keeps getting game ejections.
