I'm new here, obviously since im introducing myself lol.  Lets see if i can condense this.

My Story: I'm a 24 year old guy from north Texas, was born with blocked kidneys and reflux which they didnt fidn until i was 3 weeks old, and by then the damage was done...i hopscotched around without dialysis until i had my first failed transplant at age 6 it rejected after 2 weeks, yes the first lol.  Got on PD dialysis about age 7 and was on that for around 5 years but had to switch to Hemo after many recurring bouts of paratenitis.  Ive been on Hemo ever since, had a transplant from my uncle in 05 at the age of 18 and it worked great but got a BK virus in the hospital and it shut the kidney down. about age 12 i had to get a wheelchair cause prolonged high phosphorus weakened my bones and if i kept walking my hips could break.

About me: i have my spells like everybody but generally im a happy joking person, i LOVE to write, especially poetry.  People say im a good writer, maybe ill post a poem here sometime, like i said im 24 and ive had 49 surgeries...everything from tonsils out to a shunt in my brain to hip surgeries to failed transplants lol, ive got lots of stories but mostly im here to find kindrid spirits, maybe even some people my age to become friends with cause i barely have any lol, so, ELLO FOLKS! Hi Greg and welcome from another one of the "not so young" gang.      There are quite a few members that are in your age range, though.  Glad to have you here.

There are plenty of younger people here on IHD who feel the social isolation that you do, but in saying that, I hope you will consider having some of us older people as friends, too.  Some of the people on this forum about whom I care the most are your age; here you will find that age is no barrier to making friends.  ESRD never comes at a convenient time in one's life.  If you are young, you want to have friends and go out.  If you are a little older, you have a spouse or young children to look after.  If you are a little older than that, you have (OMG) TEENAGERS to corral!  And if you are still a bit older, you have college kids that need your money for tuition.  And if you are lucky and are still alive when those college kids graduate and get jobs, you want to enjoy your "empty nest" and have some peace, not have to deal with dialysis.  And then come the grandbabies....!  So you see, there's never a good time to get sick, but anytime is a good time to find friends, no matter your age or theirs.
