I purchased my first App today.  Angry Birds   

             

What apps do you have?

I have Angry Brds lite, it was free. The apps I use most are for health and low vision. Most I have have been free, but have purchased a few also when the price was only .99 cents. I have about 48 I think.
 
So for iPhone:
iTalking Clock, Flashlight, iMagnifyer, and Camera Flash are used most

For my mom's NookColor, I have downloaded 3 Apps and none of them are used and niether is the Nook. I think I'll just take it and use it myself! I downloaded the calander, notepad, and .... forgot!

How difficult would it be to make an app to take over my CCPD flowchart for Dialysis? Take away the paperwork and use the app to hold the data or export it to an ongoing excel file?

Do not know since Blackberry, Android, Apple (The 3 major competitors of Apps) have different requirements to work on their system. There maybe a work around tho were an app would not be needed as long as you kept updating your excel file and downloading/uploading it to your device with an app that allows you to upload Microsoft files which is calledOneNote. The flow chrt depending how big it is maybe able to be converted to a picture, but think I remember it can be added to an excel sheet.
 
I haven't taken classes for app development, not sure that is offered at my local college yet.

I was doing an update on my apps and found out I was way off on how many apps I have. I have 91 apps and at most use about 7 or 8 of them. Although I'm sure of those 91 apps, not all of them are loaded on my phone.

I refuse to upgrade my phone, so no apps for me - and no internet on it, either.  Luddites unite!

As much as I would like a "dumb" phone, there isn't one for visually impaired without the need to have the mandatory data contract. Jitterbug just doesn't have a good reputation in this area for call quality and customer service. However, if you get any of the tablets and possibly the next generation of e-Readers, you'll be introduced to Apps. Some are helpful and some are a waste of time and money. Angry Birds justgets aggrivating to chuck your last bird to knock over a tower to kill that last pig. I see some of the new LCD/LED TV's offer apps to. I'm just glas my DVR has built in Apps so I don't have to download any to get Pandora and YouTube.

I ♥ Angry Birds. And Bubble Blast.  And Retro Cam.  And Talking Tom.  I don't really use any of the other apps on my phone.  Blokey thinks I'm addicted.  I am.

Sticher from Sticher.com it is free and has endless amounts of free content that you can listen to.  The amount of podcasts are endless. Also Tunein.com to listen to all kinds of music content and it is free.  Both of these are lifesavers if you are stuck in the hospital for long periods of time.

I have TuneIn, but I have it set to use for wifi only.  I like it, though.  I can listen to local radio stations with it, and not just the internet stations

also, the flashlight app has been a godsend.  I use it ALL THE TIME.. *LOL*

Listening to local stations is what I do to, but have to use  phone network on the train so I can listen. That was one thing I missed about my iPhone, no radio when I switched phone. Yes that flashlight app comes in handy  in some places to ready or look for things.

I used the Google Sky Map app last weekend when I stayed at a friends cabin away from city lights. It just boggles my mind that it works but I could tell that the bright star moving across the south horizon was Neptune and the brightest star over head was Vega. You just hold the phone at arms length pointing at the star and the sky map names what you're seeing. Amazing.


Now that I can enter in my treatment data with my smart phone it rarely leaves my side.

I'm hoping that the new dialysis unit will have wifi so I can do more, maybe even bring my computer in and watch netflix movies.  I doubt they'll have much along those lines, though.  At least I know that there will be better cell reception

Providing wifi doesn't take much these days - Northwest Kidney Centers has had broadband access available since 1998, now it's all wifi at every unit. And loaner laptops.

Are you kidding?  This is Canada.  Everything is govt run.  Wifi isn't essential, so I doubt we'll have it, but since the new unit is being built onto the hospital (it's in a nursing home at the moment), I know how the cell coverage is there.
