Hi guys.  My name is Andy, and I am a trainee Nephrologist in Newcastle upon Tyne (England).  Importantly, I am not English - I am Scottish.  That is a crucial distinction.

I have normal kidney function, but I am interested, for obvious reasons, in the management of kidney failure, and I hope you won't mind me lurking around here trying to learn a little about what makes you tick and what ticks you off.

Welcome to IHD chessicle,

Lurk all you want. IHD is available to anyone interested in CKD or dialysis. You will be lurking for awhile because the threads here are practically endless. I hope you learn or find whatever your interested in.

We do have several sections on employees, dialysis workers and dialysis centers. I'll warn you now that here at IHD we are to the point and honest and we somtimes talk about bad experiences as well as the good ones. Enjoy your stay and start saving some kidneys. ;)

 Here's some quick easy reference for you.

Welcome, Andy!  I think it's great that you joined IHD.  I think it shows that you truly care about the profession you've chosen, and I'll bet you're going to be good at it.  There is a wealth of good information here and you can truly understand how ESRD patients, their caregivers and their families cope with this disease.  Looking forward to hearing more from you!  :welcomesign;

Andy, welcome to our site.  It is great that you chose our site I'm sure you will find it insightful.  There are so many posts that you may find interesting.  We have one Nephrologist on the site.  "Dr. Evil" so watch for his posts!  Throw in your comments too.  We welcome you and them.

Welcome to IHD.  Kudos to you for wanting to know about us, instead of just our symptoms!  This world needs more doctors who see a person instead of patient.

Hello Andy,  Glad to have you here.   Nephrology, I have been told by the doctors in the family is a very difficult specialty to get into. ( here in the States , anyway)   You must be of superior intelligence and be dedicated beyond belief!  Best of luck in your chosen field.   :welcomesign;

 Welcome to our community, and welcome from one born under the Union Jack (pre-independent Barbados).  We do appreciate practitioners in the field who take time out to see things from our point of view.  This is an excellent site, and one that was a major weapon in my dealing with my new challenge of dialysis back in Sept 2005.
You have much to offer us, and we have much to offer you.  So don't just lurk (although you are totally free to do so); post from time to time as well.

Welcome, Andy!  You're chosen a challenging specialty, and maybe we here at IHD can help contribute to your education!  :welcomesign;
