Ladies how long was it after transplant that you resumed taking oral contraceptives? My major reason for wanting to take them is b/c it keeps my skin clear...so get your minds out of the gutter!   :rofl;

But seriously can anyone give me their experience? It seems like nephs are not in the business of caring about our sexual/reproductive health...

I was never able to take birth control pills because of my high blood pressure.  I am surprised that they let you go on them.  I was told not to use any hormonal birth control.

Wahahahhahahaha!  You do know that renewed, healthy hormone surge is gonna hit soon, don't you?   >:D

Never took oral - had an IUD before, during, and after, though, and no one said a thing about it.

I take Lo-Ovral for birth control.....not that I need it for that. I think at 42 I am way too old to be birthing babies   ;D ;D  Plus I think I am pre menopausal.  My docs never had a problem with me being on BC  right away.

One of our centers had a recipient get pregnant surprisingly a month post transplant...........

Retin A, your skin will suck for three months and you will never have any issues again.

It's so weird that you guys got to take bc pills., and I'm a little jealous.   I'm 44 now, so I'm also past the baby stage, and my fertility is way down.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts....the surgeon said no b/c the pills would make my blood thick and could clot of the blood flow to the kidney. I have been reading research abourt it and it seems that the BC pills do cause the liver to produce more clotting factors...so there maybe some truth in what the doc says. I am going to keep investigating it....just wanted to see if there were anymore ladies who took hormonal pills after the surgery...
