So there was an incident at our center today where this one patient's bp got so low that he actually fell out of the chair, I heard them write up the report and they said they didn't come to the guy's rescue right away because they were busy taking off other patients, what? you are so wrapped up with other patients you cause a guy to crash so much he falls out of the chair and has to be ambulenced to the hospital? I guess this is what a lack of staff does to you.

May 20, 2009, admited to hospital for kidney failure
May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium
august 25, 2009, access placement
January 16, 2010 thrombectomy was done on access

Maybe a report like that will contribute to a "case" for more staff.  Perhaps that is why they might write it up as an issue of them being otherwise occupied.  (Given your 24 chairs to three staff ratio).

1986: kidney failure at 19 years old, cause unknown
PD for a year, in-centre haemo for 4 years
Transplant 1 lasted 21 years (Lucy: 1991 - 2012), failed due to Transplant glomerulopathy
5 weeks Haemo 2012
Transplant 2 (Maggie) installed Feb 13, 2013, returned to work June 17, 2013 average crea was 130, now is 140.
Infections in June / July, hospital 1-4 Aug for infections.

Over the years:  skin cancer; thyroidectomy, pneumonia; CMV; BK; 14 surgeries
Generally glossy and happy.

Sullidog, I have just two words for you, "Get Out".  Do not stay there.  Inquire about other clinics in your area!  Can anyone help him with that on this site?  Maybe Noah or Pat or someone!  This is serious stuff here and these people need assistance!  Start looking into other Modalities, dont wait Sullidog, do it now!  And when you do find away out, tell others in that clinic about it!  You can become an advocate for them!

Good God, there are so many unsuspecting people in this centers, that just think all this is normal!  Some no nothing about this disease that they have and that is SAD!


Get Out of that Center, Sullidog!  God forbid you become their next victim!  Lord have Mercy!!

If I'm the "Pat" you are referring to in your post, thank you for your confidence in my abilities to help folks out.  However:

1) I'm not in Ohio, so logistically alone, it makes it pretty hard to physically help out.
2) I'm not Sullidog's legally designated representative.
3)  Although Sullidog has posted numerous complaints about his facility, staff and his nephrologist, I can't recall any post stating he wants to go somewhere else.  He's stated MAYBE time to look, but that's it.  It is not my decision or anyone else's on here to make for him. 


NoahVale posted excellent info above.  The only thing I would have included was the ESRD Network can help Sullidog to find a new facility more willing to meet his needs if he does not wish to file a grievance or have the Network intervene on his behalf, and is ready to move on.

I would also suggest that Sullidog have a family member or trusted friend help him with contacting the Network or Ohio Dept. of Health if he is not capable - for whatever reason - of doing it alone and needs the support.

I guess if this was happening to me where I needed help but no one was coming.  If I still had it in me I reach over and clamp one of my blood lines.  This would stop the UF pull and ALARM.   Not a good thing to do all the time, but I'd do it in an emergency.

Excellent advice Rerun!  I did this once when there was 1 tech on the floor and they were understaffed. My BP was getting way to low and I couldn't reach the UF, so I clamped the venous down....

July 27, 2010 Started dialysis for the first time ever.
June 21, 2011 2nd kidney nonrelated living donor
September 2013 Liver Cancer tumor.
October 2013 Ablation of liver tumor.
Now scans every 3 months to watch for new tumors.
Now Status 7 on the wait list for a liver.
How about another decade of solid health?

Thanks for the great resources guys!
I just filed a complaint with them and I got an email back saying they would investigate these issues and keep me updated via letters and phone calls.
There have been times where their hasn't been no staff on the floor at all do to smoke breaks, doing labs in the lab room, etc. Yes, if this gets me no where I will leave the facility.

Yes, you are the Pat I was referring to, and yes I realize that this will have to be done by Sullidog himself and now I understand that he has made his move in the right direction and his wishes known! 

What's going on in these centers that the staffing is so low! I'm sorry folks, I don't have this disease, but I have a tendency to panick for those who do! Sometimes Im just so scared for J and all.  But this really concerns me, and seems to be a trend in the world of Dialysis! Not just in Ohio either!

As I posted in another thread about going to J. 2nd clinic to visit, it just wasn't the same in a matter of a year, it has changed patients and staff. Thank God we can do this at home!  We are so Blessed!
