hello there, ive recently found this site and thought it would be a good idea if i made a post, just to get my story out there, im very new to this type of thing, and i thought it would be a good idea to read other peoples storys from people that go thru the same thing as myself.
i am in stage 4 of kidney failure, a few months ago i found out from my specialist that i will have to start dialysis.
there are many different reasons on why you get kidney failure, mine is due to a bith defect in my bladder, and ever sence i was little i would always get infections, wich has slowly decreased the function in my kidneys, currently i am running at 15 % with a creatine level at almost 300 on a bad day.  so because of this abnormality in my bladder my doctor has told me a transplant wont be considerd at this time,
i have an amazing support system from a small group of friends and my boyfriend, but it would be nice to talk to someone who knows what im going thru and can relate, feel free to ask any questions about me, im not looking for answers, just a friend.

Welcome Ashley!
I know you aren't looking for answers, but will share this anyway. My daughter had a similar problem with her bladder and started dialysis when she was 18 years old. She had bladder augmentation surgery, using bowel material to enlarge her bladder to reduce pressure, so that she was eligible for a transplant. She has had a transplant for 4 1/2 years now. Good luck to you, hope all goes well with starting dialysis. What kind will you do?

Welcome to IHD Ashley!!!

You've come to the right place for friends who can understand more than most the sorts of things you're going through. As much as your friends andbf can try and support you as best they can, there are some aspects they just will never "get" because (thank god!) they don't have to go through it.

That's what we're here for (in part). Hopefully being part of our community will help you on your journey - when you feel that folks around you don't understand, or can't deal, or you feel alone. Come here - rant, whinge, whatever.

We don't always have answers, but plenty of opinions!!! Hopefully some can help you in some small way or another.

I'm glad you found our site.

Welcome Ashley.   :welcomesign;

I am new here, too and also very glad I found IHD.

I've found this a great place for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is interacting with folks who understand what those of us who are new to ESRF are going through.
