skipping heartbeat

For a while now, I have had a skipping heartbeat, it happens off and on. It doesn't flutter the heart will actually sound like it's pausing. The cartiologist has detected it on a halt but whenever I go to the er they can't detect it on the monitor or EKG. Unfortunetly my bp monitor isn't one that detects abnormal heartbeats and the palse reating is in the mid 60's to the low 80's. At dialysis sometimes they can catch it when listening and sometimes they can't. The machine never shows a weird palse or any abnormalities. It makes me dizzy sometimes as well. My cartiologist says it's my access. They've also ran a stress test and found nothing.
Could a dialysis in fact cause this?

hows ur fluid?
i have some fluttering, and i think ive had what ur describing, my dr attributes to my fluid, although he doesnt seem to want to make sure its anything else.
he says the longer ur on D the more stress it causes to the body, especially the heart.

I don't gain so they don't take off other then the small amount they have to to clean the blood

Why do you keep calling it an access? Access is just a general term for any access used to connect you to the machine, fistula, graft, catheter. These are all different and it would help to know which one you have. I can see a catheter causing heart problems (although normally it shouldn't) but a fistula or graft in the arm not so much.

I'd look into how your potassium levels are as well as PTH. Are you on Sensipar? Do you take it regularly or forget and skip doses? Sensipar can affect heart rhythm. Also do you have hardening of the arteries? This can happen over time on D. Well good luck hope this helps you find where the problem might be coming from. There's always the option of a second opinion of a recommended cardiologist, especially one with experience with dialysis patients.

I am not a doctor so just take this info for what it is worth.  It is very common for our hearts to have extra beats from time to time.  Some people have tons of them and don't feel them and others have one or 2 an hour and they drive them crazy. 
It is most common to have what is called PVC's or premature Ventricular contraction.  They will show up on a 24hr Holter monitor or King of Hearts monitor(event recorder)but normally go away when you are trying to capture them in the ER(Murpheys law).  If the stress test didn't show them that is great!  If your heart is bad they normally show up post exercise.
It isn't uncommon at all to feel them in your throat or like your heart stopped for a few seconds.  Being dizzy is also a common complaint of irregular heart beats.  They are a few irregular rhythms that are dangerous, but most of them are just scary and annoying.  I would continue to seek advice from a doctor, but I wanted to reassure you that what you are feeling is probably just an annoying irregular heart beat and nothing to worry about.

I'm a Certified Cardiographic and Register Cardiac Sonographer and your complaint is scary as all heck, but common.

I feel them in my throat and my heart Dr. is not concerned.  I have had these a long time even before dialysis.  So I try not to worry about them but do try to find out about them especially if this is something new.

i tried to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist and they refered me back to nephrology!!!!
