I met up with Jenna, Okarol and Vandie on Sunday at 2p.m. at Taco Joes in Rialto.  We had a great meal and lots of talk together.  Jenna ia a very quiet, sweet teenager.  She and Karol have been through the wringer this year with the kidney donation and transplant coming in nine days.  I told Karol they would have to sedate me if it was nine days to transplant! Vandie is very upbeat and her kids are beautiful. She had a picture of her three girls to share with us.   Wow! Lives are busy!  I will let the others tell of their experiences.  I have pics, too.  I know Karol has much better pics of us becasue she had a whiz bang new camera!  Here are a few I took.
Vandie is wearing her I Hate Dialysis sweatshirt.  That is a nice sweatshirt.
I arrived a few minutes after two because I had to stop for gas for the car's empty tank.  Vandie/Deanne and I talked until Karol and Jenna arrived.  We ordered lunch and ate and talked about things going on in our lives.  I had a great time.  I can't wait to do it again!  Next time more people!

It was great fun to meet and talk! I sort of kidnapped Jenna and said "Let's go have lunch" because I think if she knew we were driving
43 miles for taco's she might have said "Pass!" I loved meeting KitKatz and Vandie - such wonderful people - makes talking on a forum
so much more real! I think Jenna saw that Kit really does understand what she's been through with dialysis.

Thanks gals! Thanks for driving all that way Vandie! And thank you Kit for our little gifts! Jenna got a rhinoceros and I got an elephant -
perfectly sized to take anywhere - we will bring them along on the transplant journey and think of you!

Ok here's my photo - new camera so not sure how it works yet!

What a treat!!
It was so nice to put faces to names, and to meet Miss Jenna.   These women, all of them, are fabulous, strong and make me very proud to have been in their company.
I have the same shots already posted, so I'll save them.
Thanks, ladies.  Let's do it again.

Oh man you have the "CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi" VERY nice camera, I asked Santa for that camera for Christmas this year but he told me to go pound sand.  :-\

That's a whole lot of camera for a amateur are you a photographer okarol or just a casual user? I want one because I am the yearbook photographer/chairman at my sons school, right now I use a Canon S2 IS and I love it, but I hope to get the XTi one day. That camera is rated one of the best semi-pro digital cameras in the world.

Camera Link for CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi

OK, BACK ON-TOPIC.

Awesome that you guys met, I also LOVE vandie for wearing her sweatshirt to the meet, VERY COOL VANDIE.  :thumbup;  :beer1;

Hey guys, to the elephant and rhino.  I love you!  Be happy in your new homes!
The elephant was for Karol to remember how STRONG she is as they approach transplant and do it.
The Rhino was to remind Jenna to get up and CHARGE! No matter what, keep moving forward.
These little guys have traveled with me in my pockets to some tough meetings at work to remind me that I am strong and to go for it! They told me they were bored sitting on a shelf and wanted some action with people who needed them. So off they go on a new adventure!
Vandie, will not tell you all, but she got a hummingbird sunglasses holder pin to wear.  It is to remind her of the beauty all around us as she approaches transplant and possible dialysis.

This is all so tremendous!  I am so happy to be a part of a community like this.  I went to the airport to pick up my cousin, and while I was sitting there I chatted with some tourists (yachters).  When they said they were from Calif., I had to let them know about our website and what it has meant to me.  I said, I have lots of friends in California!

Oh my.  I will mention, I just neglected to previosuly.  My apologies.  Kit gave to me a beautiful hummingbird pin that has a little loop for sunglasses.
Thank you, Kit.  I am very greatful.

No apology needed Vandie. just did not want them to think you were left out of the loop.

Going through life tied to a chair!

« Reply #17 on: January 07, 2007, 09:21:26 PM »

That is great that you guys met.  It is sad that I see 20 people on dialysis every other day and don't have a word to say to them.  But I love you guys and would gladly meet any of you.  Well, within the Northern California region.   :D

Jenna and I had the same discussion on the way home. I often speak to other patients if I go in with Jenna, but for her the
chairs are just far enough apart, and she's so NOT wanting to be there, that she rarely talks to anyone. And there are 65
chairs in there - always full. It is sad.
