Hello from Hampton Va

Hello all, I'm a 44 year old male from Hampton, VA. I'm not on dialysis yet, but I'm having my fistula put in tomorrow. My life has been turned upside down since I was told a week before X-mas that dialysis was inevitable. I've always known about my kidney disease, but did not anticipate progressing this quickly. I just retired from the Army and started a new life 3 years ago here in VA. I have a 2 year old son and my wife was a nurse, now a stay home mom/dog trainer. I have lots of questions, but I'll start with this for now.

Well a very big
to you.. I have so much i feel like saying to you that would hopfully ease your mind on all this new stuff thats happening to you, but it's one of those nights that im all pooped out from our busy day (hubbys the one on dialysis <home with nxStage> and he has energy to burn and runnning me ragged with his good health..
) Anyway, try to think of your fistula as your new friend as it will bring you health. I wish you well, and hope you stick around and see that your going to be ok with it all. Lots of great people here to give support... all the best tomorrow...

Oh God...I really do know how you are feeling. I had my fistula put in last year and am still waiting for the inevitable first day of dialysis. PM me if you would like to chat about it. You're gonna be OK.

Welcome!
We also knew that dialysis was inevitable, but the final Dr. appointment when they say...."You need to start now!" still comes as a shock and downer.
Thinking of you.

Good morning, I have an hour before I have to leave so I'm doing work. A little sleep last night, but I feel fine. Just got a call from my brother wishing me luck. He is one of 3 younger brothers I have. And he is the only one that knows what I'm going through. Even my parents don't know yet. I have to tell them soon..
