This will be me...... Next spring.... I earned it.

« on: February 04, 2011, 12:57:53 PM »

Just found out that Davita will buy out  DSI...which is my clinic......   and I believe  that Davita does not let ANYONE  do home extended or nocturnal....with Nxstage.....   I have been working with my clinic for months now..... everything is going well with the exception of a heparin pump..... which they have said they have ordered......  I have the cartridges and everything..... I even signed a contract with them....

I am not sure when Davita will take over.... sometime in the second or third quarter they said...   I am depressed now...  I was so looking forward to doing extended (nocturnal..)

I spend 4.29 hours six days a week doing dialysis.....  and was hoping that I could sleep while doing dialysis.... Its hard to sleep for  hours and then set up and spend 5 hours getting on the machine... seems like I spend 6 hours a day doing dialysis.....       I hate this......

Kathy,
Since you are already doing NxStage at home and will certainly have started "extended" treatments before the change, it seems that Davita would allow you to continue with your prescription. If not, fight it and if all else fails, find another clinic. The NxStage site has a clinic locator.

Good luck.

Davita is buying all of the clinics in our area....  and those that my insurance company deals with....   there is only two clinics here that offer Nxstage....  and one of those does not do business with my insurance company.....  My insurance company makes me live in a very narrow area....    I am stuck.......

Transplant......please happen soon....

I trained for home hemo at a DaVita unit in Anaheim, CA. I had a plethora of blood pressure problems on it, so I now go to a DaVita unit in Long Beach, CA which does not train for home hemo. All DaVita units are , obviously, not the same. Wishing you good luck on getting a transplant.

I trained for nocturnal home hemo at a DaVita clinic in Scottsdale, but not on a NXstage. It was explained to me that NXstage was not approved by the FDA for nocturnal hemo; only the Fresenius Baby K was approved for that use and it had nothing to do with DaVita.

not that this will help, but I do know in my area that Davita will train on NxStage. There is a center in Southfield, Mi. that offers all of the modalities. THey have in-center, home hemo, Pd. My personal center's volunteer, goes to this specific one and she is on NxStage home hemo.
I guess I am not too terribly surprised that NxStage is not approved for nocturnal home hemo. It just doesnt seem like it would be big enough. But who knows.

Remember, DaVita owns a small percentage of NxStage.

I would recommend that you try Mercy Flight to go to a clinic that offers Nocturnal on NxStage.  Indiana University does Nocturnal on NxStage and they are an outstanding dialysis clinic.   I was at Davita for five years, they are full of you know what.  I would also think that the commercial airlines would help you since you need it for dialysis treatments.  If you need more help, I am at NDXUFan@aol.com
