Hi My name is Nicole and I am from Australia. I have been on dialysis since 1983 when I was 13. I have had two transplants and am waiting for a third - I believe in third time lucky! I work fulltime as a social worker and I am half way through a Degree in Psychology. I dialyse at home and have done so since I first began dialysis. Umm what else? The cause of my renal failure was Glomerulonephritis and I had no time to think about any of this - I fell sick one day and was on dialysis that afternoon. Looking to forward to being able to contribute and impart a little bit of wisdom!! Nicole

Hi Nicole! I hope you are not in any flooded bits of Australia!
Anyone who has been on dialysis since 1983 certainly has a lot of wisdom to impart. Thanks so much for the offer; that's very generous of you. Welcome!

Welcome to the group, Nicole. I'm confused. I thought glomerulonephritis was a symptom of kidney problems, not a cause. I had the big G back when I was about 35. The cause of my kidney failure, however, was high blood pressure. Just wondering. Glad you're here.

I hope i can share some stories - i have plenty of funny ones!! We only have funny in my house!!!
The best way to be incidently. I find humour is INVALUABLE as a way to cope with some of the situations this horrid disease gives us. There were times I was on that bloody machine and thinking if I can't laugh at this I'll cry.. I chose to laugh. Blonde huh? Yes, I do remember this blonde girl in 1983.... Was she a supermodel in the making? Depending on how short the skirt was I guess?!!! *hide*
