Hey everyone, I've seen a lot of events for patients who have had transplants but I feel that the patients still on dialysis are neglected to a certain point.

Does anyone know if there are any world/european or even national dialysis games/events? I would really like to go into that direction next year as I'm a healthy patient and would love to give an event like 100m a real go. I feel I can pursue a gold medal. I want to continue to prove dialysis isn't the end, it's just the beginning!

Wow, I've never even heard of anything like this. I just wanted to say if you are in otherwise good health and are up to it, good for you! I hope you win!

There is the Transplant Games.. The Canadian were held in Quebec last summer, I think.. There are different Transplant Games associations..

World Transplant Games Federation.. http://www.wtgf.org/
They have dialysis games as well

Canadian Transplant Association.. http://www.organ-donation-works.org/english/eve-national.htm
They look after the games in Canada.  I believe they allow dialysis patients to participate as well

The NKF US Transplant Games.. http://www.kidney.org/news/tgames2010/index.cfm
I don't know if dialysis patients are eligible to participate or not

These are just what I got in a quick google search

Yes, the World Transplant Games will be held in Göteborg, Sweden in June 2011. The European Transplant & Dialysis Games will be held sometime around Aug. 2011. http://2010newlife.com/

Thanks for the information everyone who replied. Unfortunately they haven't put up the information for upcoming events (it would be helpful for training etc). If anyone has ever competed in such events or knows someone who has, please put them in contact with myself. I'm 100% serious about giving this a go. If anyone has any advice about training or getting mentally prepared etc please post. Any information truly will be appreciated.

I think HSM wants "dialysis games" all the above is for Transplant Recipients.  Anyone know about those of us still on dialysis?
