ok people there seems to be alot of u from the west coast....so my question is this...i am sitting in my family room watching the snow come and getting ready to take my grandaughter out to play in it.....so how many have u have seen snow or actually got to play in it build a snowman etc....

I hate snow ALMOST as much as I hate dialysis!!! Lol... really...
It's ok if I can stay inside.. looks pretty sometimes...
But... when my grandkids want me to help with a snowman.... I'll be there...

Being in the snow is a dream for me.  I live in the tropics - one season all year round.  I LOVE SNOW.  I have experienced winters in France, in England and in New York. And while these don't have really severe winters, I loved every moment I spent.  I still have a picture in my album of my first time touching snow in 1981.  And my first time skiing!!!!
Take some of this sunshine and give me snow!
It doesn't snow too much in London during December and one Christmas that I was there, the family friend with whom I was staying woke me up one morning and said that I had got my wish.  She was not happy and held me personally responsible for the snow.  I was thrilled.

I'm in Massachusetts, and we got a little dusting of snow yesterday... it is cold, in the low 30's now.

I hate snow because when I have to shovel it, I get so THIRSTY!  The dry winter air is a fluid-restriction-killer!  No matter how much water I drink, I'm still thirsty.  And unlike summer, when you can sit outside and sweat off whatever fluid you drink, you can't do anything in the winter to get rid of excess fluid.

Snow can be dangerous-- my great-grandfather died of a heart attack while he was cleaning the snow off of his car before work one morning.   So all of you dialysis patients who have to shovel snow-- TAKE IT EASY!

bajanne2000, I would like to trade a week's worth of snow for a week's worth of warm sunshine!

I lived 40 years in Eastern Washington State and moved because of the SNOW.  I don't miss it one bit.     I love California Sunshine!!

A California couple moves east to get away from the big earthquake

Jan 24--5pm. It's starting to snow. The first of the season, and the first snow we've seen in years. The wife and I took our hot buttered rums and sat by the picture window, watching the soft flakes drift down, clinging to the trees and covering the ground. It was beautiful!.

Jan. 25  We woke to a lovely blanket of crystal white snow covering the landscape.
What a fantastic sight!
Every tree and shrub covered with a beautiful white mantle.
I shovelled snow for the first time in years, and loved it. I did both our driveway and sidewalk.
Later, a snow plough came along and accidentally covered up our driveway with compacted snow from the street.    The driver smiled and waved. I waved back and shovelled again.

Jan. 26 It snowed an additional five inches last night and the temperature has dropped to around -11 degrees.
Several limbs on the trees and shrubs snapped due to the weight of the snow. I shovelled our driveway again.
Shortly afterwards, the snowplough came by and did his trick again.
Much of the snow is brownish grey.

Jan. 27 Warmed up enough during the day to create some slush which soon became ice when the temperature dropped again.
Bought snow tires for both cars.
Fell on my ass in the driveway. $145.00 to the chiropractor, but nothing was broken. More snow and ice expected.

Jan. 28 Still cold. Sold the wife’s’ car and bought a 4x4 in order to get her to work.
Slid into a guard rail and did a considerable amount of damage to the right rear quarter panel.
Had another 8 inches of the white shit last night.
Both vehicles covered in salt and crud.
More shovelling in store for me today.
That goddam snowplough came by twice today.

Jan.minus 29 8 degrees outside. More @#&^%$! snow. Not a tree or shrub on our property that hasn't been damaged.    Power was off most of the night.
Tried to keep from freezing to death with candies and kerosene heater which tipped over and nearly burned our house down.
I managed to put the flames out, but suffered 2nd degree burns on my hands and lost all my eyebrows and eyelashes.
Car slid on ice on way to emergency room and was totalled.

Jan. 30 Goddam @#&^%$! white shit keeps on coming down.
Have to put on all the clothes we own just to get to the @#&^%$!' mailbox.
If I ever catch the son of a bitch that drives the snowplough, I'll chew open his chest and rip out his heart.

I think he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shovelling and then comes down the street at about 100mph and buries our driveway again!
Power is still off.
Toilet froze and part of the roof has started to cave in.

Jan. 31 six goddam more @#&^%$!' inches of @#&^%$!' snow and @#&^%$!' ice
and god knows what other kind of @#&^%$!' white shit fell last night.

I wounded the @#&^%$!' snowplough @#&^%$driver! with my ice axe, but he got away.

Wife left me. New car won't start. I think I'm going snow-blind. I can't move my toes. Haven't seen the sun in weeks. More snow predicted. Wind-chill is minus 22 @#&^%$!' degrees below zero.
To hell with it. I'm going back to California!

Sure, it's a good one, but I still wish we have a real winter season here in Caribbean.  It doesn't have to be with 2 feet of snow - just 0º and some snow flurries.

This is a GREAT idea!   Can't we do some time-sharing in the dialysis world.  You come to my center and I go to yours.  That way, no one pays anything extra for treatment and we get to travel.  YEAH!!!!!
Dialysis centers, if they really want to make us feel normal, should think about that.  It wouldn't disrupt them any and we would get a bit of freedom.
What do you think about that, guys!

Anyone want to dialyse in a Caribbean country with to die for beaches, and let me get some snow?

Its the middle of July here and I am in the Sunny Okanagan, British Columbia Canada.. the weather has been in the high 20's  and I to can hardly handle the heat and like you Jamie i to sleep with a fan. I don't really like winters but the summers are a killer for me.. I think in the past few years i turned albino or something.. just can't handle the heat like i used to.. so needless to say I am not a sun worshipper..
O in, i was reading your post and I had read a story like that before, but I laughed just as hard this time as i did last time.. It is all so true.. I have spent 6 years in the Yukon, (north of Whitehorse about 200 miles) and I can tell ya it is damn could up there.. have experienced putting the hot coals from the wood stove under the oil pain to heat the oil up to thin it out to go though the engine.. and if you don't do the transmission too. then you can start your vehicle but ya sure ain't gonna go no were... but that is the extreme (i guess) with the ozone getting screwed maybe we can start spending out winters there as i truly believe the seasons are changing (or something like that)

Oh Jamie is no longer with us but he did experience a lot of snowy days as he and I lived in the same city in Canada. There used to be more snow back in the 70's and 80's but now it seems we just get at most 5 inches of snow. I miss the big snow falls we once had but since I don't have a car I sometimes hate the snow. Especially the icy grounds! My mom however really loves the snow and she wishes for the more the better! She especially loves it when the trees get all icy and sparkle in the sun! Well, I admit I like that part too And when the snow glistens.

But ya the humidity in the summer is the worst for me! And I hate not being allowed to swim... I always sleep with a fan on all year around. How many of us do that?

I like a little of both sun and snow, but I have to say I prefer the snow to the sun.  I have a saying about it.  I can always put more clothes on to stay warm, but I can only take off so many and still be decent to cool down.

I am sure he knows as I believe he went to heaven. He was the most giving person I know giving magic shows to sick children all over north america even when he felt as crappy as he always did especially lately.
