It was a cleaning day for me after 2 weeks of living like a bachelor all that time. Mom and Dad have been up in Chicago visiting my brothers and sisters for Christmas and now they will be coming back on Friday.

I packed Christmas up into boxes before dusting and hoovering.  Now I'm all worn out with the excitement that gave me!

Good luck to you, Henry. I suggest you explain to our American cousins what a kangaroo jack is, or they'll think you're travelling with Paul Hogan.

I hoovered and steamed the kitchen floor. This is a process that takes a great deal of time, so I am pretty exhausted. Also did loads of laundry and finally OxiCleaned the chairs at the breakfast table. I could now comfortably do an advert for OxiClean! It took an old blackberry stain right off the upholstery. I love our kitchen chair fabric and the table and chairs are a really expensive set that my parents got through my father's old company, so if we wreck it, it stays wrecked. I was thrilled.

Also bought a pizza from Whole Foods - they are having a sale on their bake at home pizzas, so only $9 for a huge pizza that just needed a few minutes in the oven. It is a much thinner crust than the ones that they prep for you, but we enjoyed. My younger son was Kid of the Day at school today, so got to bring whatever he wanted to share with the class, plus some other privileges that I am not quite clear on. He brought a glow in the dark dinosaur puzzle and his Buddy the Dinosaur (it's a train conductor t-rex where you can insert all of these plastic tickets into his clock and he will entertain you with dinosaur games and facts). He also wore his special Manchester United shirt. Special because it was a gift and he can actually say he's been to Manchester. He calls it his soccer shirt and he loves it.

I started my day late around 11:30am. Took a shower, ate brunch, watched t.v.. Since I graduated college last April 2009, I am always home. I go out when it's my dialysis or sometimes when I go to the mall. People in dialysis are not really welcome to work here in the Philippines.

Found major bargains, first at Salvation Army, then the mall.  20 books for 20 bucks - I arrived just after they put out a new batch, with a ton of sci-fi in it.  I returned something that didn't fit at the mall, (my original goal!) and then found plenty of good deals - some on things I actually needed.  Seems like EVERYTHING is 70% off right now.  I got some shiny, sparkly things that I didn't need, too, so that wasn't an accomplishment, but it felt good anyhow!

I managed to get through an entire box of Kleenex.

I got out of bed only to feed the fish, feed myself and take a shower.  I am now back in bed.

I read Henry's explanation of what a "kangaroo jack" is and was disappointed to read that it was a joke.

I whined about my cold.

And that about sums it up for today.  I'll probably accomplish even more tomorrow!

HI Jbeany,
Sounds like a delicious-do-nothing-day to me  - we should all enjoy them when we can. I think homework till 2am will be a big plus factor - hope it was good - I am a teacher, so I have a professional interest in these matters!
Just submitted my latest book to the publisher - always a high when I press the send button.
Might take up some knitting or crochet now.
All the best,
Kay

Henry, noooo!  I like the jokes!  Don't stop!  That was the highlight of my very snotty day!

Truth be told, as I was reading it, I was thinking, "He's making this up!"  I once witnessed a pretty vicious altercation between two kangaroos in a zoo...they were fighting over a lady roo.  I didn't buy your claim that roos were "docile creatures." :rofl;

I helped my Mom set up her computer in the living room.  She wanted to be able to watch the big tv with the digital box. *L*

I also bought a second wii remote, so Mom and I can play against each other in Wheel of Fortune.  I had bought a charger a while ago, with 2 battery packs, so I just had to install the second battery pack into the remote and set it on the charger.

not much, but I do have a warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment

I accomplished watching a lot of football.  And I made a concerted effort to not whine so much about my cold. :rofl;

Well, I went to a one hour meeting, drove to a little old ladys house to check some paperwork for her, made 3 loaves of cinnamon raisin bread ( really good stuff) did one load of laundry and made dinner. Thats enough for one day. I am going to bed now.

I helped hubby ear-tag 10 young cows - in the rain!!! And then relaxed by checking in on IHD.
After reading about the kangaroo jack, I had to add this bit: when we went on our caravan holiday, loaded up with all my PD supplies, we did a tyre. The ordinary jack wasn't big enough to lift the weight but luckily we had one of those big jacks with us. Strangely enough, we call it a 'wallaby' jack. :)

We call ours a Farm Jack.  It's comes in handy for lots of things here.

My Christmas decorations are put away and I have started my annual "spring cleaning".  It will take me several days but the house always feels so much better when the walls, ceiling, light fixtures, windows, doors and everything in it is clean.

I am very pleased to report that today was the first day since Friday that I got out of bed and got dressed.  I've been so miserable with my cold.  And now my husband has it.

I shovelled our driveway, sidewalk, front path and stoop, which was probably more than I should have done because when I came back inside, I promptly fell asleep.  But getting outside and getting some fresh air and exercise felt wonderful, and the snow is very pretty.
