What's past is prologue

« Reply #1078 on: June 30, 2012, 05:02:40 PM »

Woke up at about 5:30 AM with a splitting headache. I could not imagine falling back to sleep with this pain, so I plodded down for a cup of China Breakfast. Did not need to be anywhere until late morning, so once the kids were fully awake we made blueberry scones again, and once again had them with egg and cheese scramble. Liot did amazingly well with measuring out ingredients and remembering the little changes in technique I wanted to try. Doorbell rang about 9:30 AM and I thought it was going to be the annoying church types who periodically infest the neighborhood. It was a dozen gorgeous roses from Gwyn. Awwww! It's our anniversary tomorrow. I didn't get him anything! Must think, think, think!

Picture day for Liot's baseball team. They have torn up that entire part of town, so I got hopelessly lost on the way there. I really did not think it was possible for me to get lost this close to home. Arrived there and the coach says to me "it's totally voluntary". Well, yes, but the trouble with that is that I have an older child and ordered this kind of crap for his baseball team, so I can't very well skip the little guy, now can I? I ordered a mug with his picture on it. I had to make up a position and number for him since they are too little for that just yet. Since he plays for the Tigers, Liot chose #28. Anyone recognise it? Hint, the boys are Brewers fans....

I don't know any other parents on this team but Aidan had his own game across town so I had to leave little Liot there while I raced through the suburbs. I discovered the trick to navigating through the endless road works - just ignore the 'road closed' signs like everyone else. Got Aidan to his game, returned, collected Liot at the end of his game, back to Aidan's game. Aidan was on third when I arrived. I shouted"I'm watching you, Aidan!" and he shouted back "Mom! I got hit! First pitch of the game!" I asked if he was all right and he replied "Yeah, it was funny." OK, stress level coming down a bit. The pitcher is a good friend of his, and this poor kid was the best player on a truly terrible team.

Aidan was going to his best friend J's house after. Sometimes I worry that J and his family are a bit obsessed with Aidan. I find it very flattering how many people tell me that they hope their child will become friends with Aidan because they want his personality and temperament to rub off on their own kid, but usually it ends with kind words. I had texted the mother this morning to tell her that Aidan forgot his day shoes at home and wanted to shower in his own bathroom, so we would be there around 4PM. Midway through the baseball game J appears. I asked where his parents were and he said "nowhere". This was really confusing and just plain weird. I asked if he had walked from home (possible, but a bit far) and he said no, his parents dropped him off. This put me in an awkward and somewhat irritating position. Nice of the kid to like Aidan so much that he wants to just turn up to watch him play, but, well.... The game ended a bit early and J's parents were nowhere to be seen. Oh, fabulous, so I get to babysit your kid until you turn up even though it's a billion degrees in the shade and my little guy is bored and hot and wants to go home. Thankfully, it was only a few minutes after the game that the father meandered over, but wow, I can't exactly explain it but this whole episode just did not sit well with me. Took Aidan home, made him a late lunch, dropped him off at the sleepover, Liot and I went to Whole Foods and now we are chilling for the rest of the evening. He's on his iPod.

Do you usually get that proportion of spammers?

It varies. Some days there are quite a few. I don't know what they find about IHD that makes it attractive, besides the fact that we get over a million hits a month... not sure if that's it?

Well last night..I traded in my 2006 PT cruiser (my baby) for a 2008  hyundai elantra...My PT kept having more and more problems and the warranty wasn't covering any of it. So I looked into trading it in. Well my mom found the Hyundai at carmax..5 years old and only 12,000 miles...That's unheard of..only one owner and he must have been a older person that only drove in town for  years. I had a bit of a lost seeing my PT but after driving my new car home it felt good and I did enjoy how smooth it was. So I think I made the right choice.

Well I guess you can call this an accomplishment, making it to 6:30 am lecture. Could not sleep worth a darn after 8 pm nap for an hour the night before. Juno (latin) training went well even tho I was not feeling well, then got sick when they had me eat lunch, well attempt! It was like eating two breakfast's with this time change and the instructor made a mistake of trying to force me to eat. Nurse got everyone on board about my eating pattern and will not get such large portions.

Tomorrow will be a busy day starting at 6:30 am and getting our dogs in the early afternoon. Then all h&^% breaks loose they insinuated when we attempt to have dinner with the dogs in tow. :rofl;

Went kayaking for the first time ever and paddled around the lake by myself for about an hour and half.  Fun!  But enough exercise, even when I spent part of the time just drifting along, watching the fish, the birds, and the muskrats.

Another day, another job app sent out.  I swear, it takes me forever to write a cover letter.  I can sell just about anything except myself.  I finally pounded one out, after several hours of frustration with my results, and taking breaks to at least accomplish something like the dishes and dyeing my hair.  Then I logged into the company's website to post it and my resume.  Ugh, the website was a pain, but it's all uploaded.  I also blew an hour digging through all my school paperwork, which is packed still in various moving boxes, since I needed to know how high my government security clearance was during my internship to fill out the profile on the website.

By the time I finished, it was raining, and I didn't want to start painting when it was damp, so I managed to procrastinate on the living room windows a bit longer.  But wait, that's the other thread....

I don't know if it counts as I accomplished this but I had a service tech out to do my complimentary, yearly "checkup" on my vaccuum. He fixed a few minor problems and left me with some more filters. Then I laid on the couch and fell asleep. (D first thing this a.m.) That's about it for today!

I accomplished a little today.

I got my hair cut this afternoon. My barber told me it looked like I got a spider bite on my ear.  I went to the doctor, he told me it looked cancerous and refered me to see a specialist. I still had enough energy to pickup some milk and bread.

After 3 hours, 2 scrubbie pads, half a gallon of Murphy's Oil Soap, and untold buckets of hot water, my living room floor is spotless.  My knees, however, are going to have lots of black and blue spots.  The ugly burgundy cross hatch pattern from the previous owner's throw rug is gone, though.  Hurray!

I planted a terracotta bowl of succulents and hung some twinkly lights over the back arbor. Need to get more but it's looking nice on the back patio. Our younger daughter returns from her Barcelona study abroad program on Friday so we will celebrate her birthday outside - a month late.  :2thumbsup;

I made a practice batch of all-natural, solid perfume for my next craft class.  (Orange with a hint of rose for one; Lilac and green tea with a hint of orange for the other.)  I determined what I needed to make 4 sets of double boilers to melt the beeswax, and then hiked off to the thrift stores to find enough tiny pots to make them.  I took out the trash and sorted out all the tin cans I already had, since those are going to be the top layer of the double boilers.  I also am going to need more beeswax and more containers, since it's incredibly easy and fun.  No doubt, each of my students will want to make several different batches.

I did my volunteer orientation for the Transplant Games this weekend, and got my T-shirt so I can get into all the events I want to go to.  Hurray!

I actually DID accomplish some things today.

Today was my birthday, and to celebrate, I decided to stimulate the economy and go shopping.  There are so many things I needed that I just haven't been able to get up the enthusiasm to go and get.  I tend to be the kind of person who hangs on to old, holey clothing, thinking that I can wear stuff gardening or cleaning or whatnot, so I have far too many slippers, nightgowns and (ahem) panties that are hanging by a thread.  I needed new walking shoes, and I have been wanting some ballet flats in an eye popping color.  I wanted a blue handbag.

I'm very patriotic and wanted to boost the consumer confidence statistics... :P

I haven't done any proper shopping for myself in YEARS!  I got some good stuff!

:birthday; to you, Ms. MooseMom!

I started out with a bang this morning but ran out of steam mid-Afternoon. I was showered and dressed and making breakfast for my little guests by 8AM. By 7PM I was falling asleep on my couch. Not much accomplished in between, although my kids did have a fun time at a local festival near the house. I must find time to post a pic of my little guy's purchase. (Well, by his purchase I mean he managed to talk my father into buying it for him.)
