Well, I guess I joined sort of "just in case"...I'm not sure of anything yet, but my Doctor suspects I may have kidney disease. I got a proteinuria level in a 24 hour catch of over 9,000. I will be seeing a nephrologist at the end of the month.

I already have a lot of medical issues...in 2002 I presented with a pulmonary embolism...and I am an extremely rare person whose body won't lyse the clots on their own, so they are still there and I am on blood thinners and home oxygen 24 hours a day. When I go out, I use a wheelchair because my saturation drops so much on ambulation.

The idea of kidney disease on top of this, frankly, scares the crap out of me. I am 37 years old and sure as heck want to keep fighting no matter what...but it's hard to maintain the right attitude as the nightmares pile up, ya know?

I don't know if there is much hope this is something else or if there is any hope this could be early enough to avoid dialysis for a long time...I don't know much about kidney disease but I do know I want to live.

Umm...I am married, I have a cat and I spend most of my time on the internet, crafting and reading. I have the most amazing husband on earth and Maine is a great state to live in.

Thanks for having a site like this....it's nice to find people to ask questions who understand and will honestly give you the 411 on what's up.

G'day The Lady & Welcome to IHD!

Wowe sounds like you have a lot to deal with as it is (I'm just talking about looking after hubby & kitty  :rofl;) so I certainly hope you don't have to add kidney failure to the list.

However if that is the case I hope our community can be of help and support to you!

Please do let us know what the nephrologist says, OK?  Welcome to IHD; we hope you don't need us, but it is awfully nice to have you here anyway.

I have the most amazing husband on earth ...
But how can that be when the most amazing husband on earth is sitting in my living room?

Ack, scrap that ... he doesn't read this site so he doesn't have to be the most amazing husband on earth.  Your hubby can keep the title.

 ;D

Oh, and welcome to ihd, although I hope your visit with the neph shows that you don't need us after all.
