Yesterday afternoon after we returned from the funeral home to make plans for Franks funeral Jelly who has also been in renal failure started having seisures. They where happening multiable times over the next 5 hours.

I knew last week that I should put her down, she was getting so skinny, not eating & needed to be carried outside to pee. I just could not bring myself to do this as so much was happening at home. I didn't want to leave Frank, and Hannah & Nathan would be upset about their pet & Grandfather.

Our daughter and her Husband took Jelly to an emergency vet 1 1/2 hours ride to be put down. All our animal hospitals in the area where closed for the weekend.

So the two buddies are together.

Awwww.  Frank must have needed his pup with him.  Hope the grands can understand that.

I absolutely do believe that animals have the instinct to hang on if they are needed. Jelly probably felt she no longer was. Poor little animal. At least they were together until the end practically.    :cuddle;

Auuug~  Yes, they are together and neither one are suffering.  You my dear need to have a nice hot cup of tea (with whiskey) and take some time for you.

Best wishes          :pray;

It definitely sounds like she wanted to be with Frank. What a bittersweet story.

I agree.. Jelly waited as long as she could... was there when she needed to be. The devotion of a loving pet.

I am sorry you have lost so much so recently. They are both at peace now.

I am so sorry.  I agree with the others, Jelly was hanging around for Frank.   Prayers for you and the family.  Our pets are part of our families.

My uncle's dog did the same thing.  They die of a broken heart.  Sometimes humans do the same thing, too.  I know it is hard on you Diane.  Take care of yourself.  Whispering prayers for you during this sad, hard time.

Diane, Its funny but dogs have this inner ability to sense things going on around them, she must have known Frank was near the end and she hung in there to be with her master. Take comfort that they are both together, free from pain, master and friend.
