I have been reading this board for a while now.  My husband has been in dialysis for almost a year.  He still has a catheter as we waited too long to plan ahead.  He just had a new fistula put in this week.  The first never matured.  Given his age  - 77- he is doing well.  After reading this board I realize how lucky we are with the dialysis unit in our local hospital.  They are caring and friendly to my husband and the unit is pleasant and competent.   I am a strong advocate for my husband's care so they must deal with me on all issues.

It's truly a pleasure to see supportive family members getting involved.  So when some days seem like nothing is good enough - remember how important you really are.

That is a wonderfully encouraging thought you shared, Gizmar.

Funny!  I had a cat named Jasper!  So, welcome Jasperkat.  I'm sure you will enjoy this board as well as your husband if you can talk him into logging on.  If you have any questions please ask.

Actually Jasperkat is my current cat's name.  With Christmas coming it is almost more than his little cat brain can take.  He is not sure which decorations to knock down first.  Thanks to all of you for making me feel welcome.  Sometimes I feel very alone other times I can take on the world.
