I am so glad to find this site. My name is Scott. I was on CAPD for 4.5 years and had kidney transplant for 1.5 years. I understand the daily struggle of dialysis. I feel like a connection to all of you in this board. Looking forward to chat with you for many years to come. Thanks!

We can always use more input from someone who has already been there!

Hi Scott! Is your transplant still working or are you back on dialysis?
Either way, welcome to the site!

Thanks for all the loves. I was diagnosed with IgA Nephro. when I was 17 and gradually the kidney failed when I was 24. I kept this illness closed to myself and not reach out for support or be more informative about my career or my options, so I went through these mix motions of seeing my kidney function gradually decline but feeling hopeless. Whiles I was on CAPD, I went to school and I truly did not know what career I want to pursue but somehow I entered the teaching for Math program. But after the kidney transplant, a dilemma comes up whether I want to exposure myself to kids with the suppressed immune system. I am relatively young 30 yrs. Any advices on what possible career or job where I can use my math skills and not risking my health. By the way I live in southern California for those who care. Again thanks for all the love.

Scott,
How about text book writing and editing? Educational Software? If you still want to work directly with kids, how about looking into a one on one tutoring program? We have one around here called Sylvan Learning Centers where they teach students with learning disabilities in one on one settings or very small classrooms. You wouldn't be working with 30+ kids - just one at a time, so your risk would be far less. (Until this year, I watched a friend's little girl after school. She automatically reached for the hand sanitizer when she came in the door - I never had a problem with catching colds.)

There is a company in San Bernardino that does educational software and they need trainers to train teachers about it. I can get a name if you are interested. I have tentatively put my resume in.

Hi Scott. In the future please keep just one Introduction. That way new members can read all about you in one thread.
But, Welcome to IDH. It is a great website for those new to dialysis and for old timers as well.
