Sooo....I just got home from my first session of HD! Everything went smoothly!!!!! No problems cannulating ù8eventhough my fistual is 30 days old), no pain with the needles....no side effects! Granted it was a beginner session lasting only 2 1/2 hrs at a pump speed of 150....but quite honestly it all went wayyy better than I was expecting!
The boredom is the biggest problem! lol
Thankyou to everybody who gave me advice & insight!

Good for you Phil,
sometimes the anticipation is worse than the cure.
Hope you find things to keep you from being bored,
a good book, laptop, tv
best wishes

Boredom is a serious worry when on dialysis, that's for sure!! Not having something to do makes the treatment seem like it just DRAGS by... I like to watch a lot of movies, and can access the internet on my cell phone too....
I also live right across the road from my clinic, so it's not far to go if i call home and ask for something;-)

Boredom was my biggest problem too. I started playing video games on my daughters DS. Very fun. I also got into sudoko and crossword puzzles.

I find it best to take a few things - doing any one thing for 4 hours is a bit of a stretch, especially if you can't get up and wander about.
So, a newspaper, a book, music.

I play scrabble with people on my phone. We also have tv's attached to each chair. That helps to pass the time. Good Luck! Tracy
