Well Tuesday evening I started getting chills, so the next day at dialysis I told them and they said they couldn't do anything about it, then I started chillin really bad after treatment and they said it's probably the airconditioner. Well needless to say I went home and called my neph who told me go to the hospital right away because it sounds like the catheter is going to have to come out. So they pulled it out so all I have is my graft now.
I'm o
n bankomyison and jenomyson until the infection is cleared up, but why would my center blow me off like that? What should I do if they blow me off like that again?

I'm so sorry about this Troy. I have in the past come up against some really stupid people & you certainly did the right thing by calling your Doctor when you got home. Defiantly let your Doctors know how they treated you & even document this incident with the center. Who was this that told you it was AC, a tech or nurse? Hope you feel better soon. I feel it is OK to be a BITCH about these things, it is our lives at stake.

If for no other reason than for the sake of other patients, you should report whoever told you that chills are due to air conditioning.

You survived, thanks to your neph.  Some other patients might not be so lucky.

BTW, did you mean the antibiotics you're taking are vancomycin and gentamicin? If so, then be alert for any neurological symptoms like ringing in the ears, dizziness, or loss of balance.  Gentamicin is known to cause such nasty side effects. If you start to experience such side effects, call your neph.

Sulli, it sure sounds like someone in your clinic needs to find a new occupation.  To ignore such symptoms is almost criminal.  I would sure report them!

Yeah those are the antibiotics I meant. This nurse is one that really doesn't know dialysis and is mean to every one. I have told the FA but they refuse to get rid of her for some reason.
One of the things I've notice is a flushed feeling and I also have a little bruit and thrill in my palse when they are going in, but no ringing or dizzyness yet. The thrill in the palse is interesting though. It's just a slite one not like the one in my access.
