Nurses' union: Care does not include sex
Reuters News

44 mins ago

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – A union representing Dutch nurses will launch a national campaign Friday against demands for sexual services by patients who claim it should be part of their standard care.

The union, NU'91, is calling the campaign "I Draw The Line Here," with an advert that features a young woman covering her face with crossed hands.

The union said in a statement Thursday that the campaign follows a complaint it had received in the last week from a 24-year-old woman who said a 42-year-old disabled man asked her to provide sexual services as part of his care at home.

The young woman witnessed some of the man's other nurses offering him sexual gratification, the union said. When she refused to do the same, he tried to dismiss her on the grounds that she was unfit to provide care.

"This type of action is not part of the job responsibilities of carers and nurses," NU'91 said.

The case has been reported to police, the union added.

Galvo!!! hahaha that's pretty bloody funny. Did that lovely kitty of yours put you up to that one?

I must admit when I saw the subject line I thought "uh oh" - I'm not surprised my name was brought up! I just want to clarify though - I've never EVER hit on a nurse.. I save that for the lovely ladies of IHD!!!  :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

I find this both icky and hilarious at the same time. I mean absolutely nurses should not be offering sex as part of their care.. but the coment that some nurses had been providing "sexual gratification" to the patient also seems a bit strange to me. One wonders if the nurse making the complaint had a bit of an axe to grind about something.

Still they're dutch so I suppose anything goes, right????

Richard, who has not had sex in The Netherlands....  :rofl;

Actually I have - a couple of times.  I went to a music festival in Rotterdam, and I've also spent a bit of time in Amsterdam - walking around, drinking in beer gardens(ah, the good old days... pre dialysis!!!) :)

I never thought about you hitting on a nurse Richard...I thought maybe you'd consider retraining to become a nurse...female patients only of course...cute ones requesting "specialized" care only of course.   :o

Having friends in the nursing field, I have heard of this before.  There are some nurses that will perform "pity ____s" for patients though most see this as a perversion in those that will.

And RM...I can't wait to see a pic of you in scrubs!  Or maybe one of those cute little hats!

I'd need double doses of EPO just to handle the demands of such a "position" (pun intended!)  :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

Perhaps I shouldn't always get apprehensive when a medic puts rubber gloves on.  ;)
