 Hope more folks say tell us where they are from.
Although UK has the NHS reading through some of the letters sounds as though the USA has the best health service.  Any one any thoughts on the matter.????

Actually yes Yvonne, One of my uncles by marriage has put together a lot of information.  I can go back ten generations on my mother's side with names and some facts.  There are some very interesting (wacky) characters and some very inspiring ones also.  A couple of my favorites are my great grandmother and her sister (one of the first women to attend Oxford University) who had to raise 3 little girls on their own since my great grandfather died (kidney failure) when his youngest was just 10 days old. These two women ended up starting and running a private girls school in Havana, Cuba after the war up until Castro came to power.  They both spoke several languages and my great grand aunt was a latin specialist.

Neuropathy in legs age 10

Eye impairments and blindness in one eye began in 95, major one during visit to the Indy 500 race of that year
   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
     - vitrectomy in good eye post tx November 2003, totally blind for 4 months due to complications with meds and infection

Diagnosed with ESRD June 29, 1999
1st Dialysis - July 4, 1999
Last Dialysis - December 2, 2000

Kidney and Pancreas Transplant - December 3, 2000

Cataract Surgery on good eye - June 24, 2009

2011/2012 in process of getting a guide dog

Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

AFL, the one supported by the Aussies in the southern/western states (used to be VFL- Victorian football). They are the ones who wear tight shorts and score a 'mark' by climbing a tower of men..... hence why it was nicknamed Australian fairies league by NRL fans (Welshies, Queenslanders and NZ's) :rofl; Sorry Richard, just joking. I'm not a huge fan of either sport, but barrack for Parra if i have to (my grandfater would turn over in his grave he had one green and gold eye and one blue and gold eye- one for wallabies in rugby union and one for parra in league). AFL players are a lot nicer to look at then rugby players though, their heads aren't as mangled.

England born and bred ... slight connection to royalty, but mostly descended from studious agricultural labourers living south of Watford.

I think that some bits of the NHS are second-to-none.  But some bits are frustratingly lousy.  And I suspect that the American Health service is pretty much the same.

The United States of America.  My family has been here for awhile:
Edward and Grace (Norrington) Burling emigrated from Barking, Essex, England, to New York City in about 1680. Three generations of English ancestors plus thirteen generations of descendants (to the present) are presented in the book, which is fully documented and contains a 164-page index. Significant Quaker history impacts the early generations in England and America. The Burlings were wheelwrights, joiners, boat builders and merchants. They spread to Long Island, Westchester County, and upstate New York. Later migrating across America, their stories are "grist for the mill of the social historian."
