My old center has closed and I have been moved to a new hospital. I find that I can't sit in this new expletive deleted :Kit n Stik; chair for than a couple of hours without screaming pain. I have developing arthritis for some years. It is not the padding but the shape of the chair. The bottom is too small and the sides are narrow. I have asked the staff to consider getting at least one of the old style chairs but they aren't really interested. Any suggestions?

Ouch!

Maybe  lumbar pillow would help.

I wish those in the medical profession could walk a mile in the shoes of a dialysis patient, or better yet, sit in the chair for several hours!  :rofl;

Are you sure that what you're suffering from is genuine arthritis and not renal osteodystrophy?  The symptoms are similar but the causes are different.

Renal osteodystrophy is damage to your bones caused by the way that renal failure has screwed up your electrolytes and hormones.  But it can be treated successfully; mine was.

mmm interesting. We have gotten in some extra wide chairs recently for larger patients. It seems a lot of the newer chairs we've been getting are less comfortable than the previous ones. I just take in a bunch of pillows to help for the five hour runs (after about 3.5 hours I really feel it!). I use a pillow for my back and one for my backside.. it helps a bit.

Going through life tied to a chair!

Tell your Nephrologist and see if he can pull some strings to get an old chair back.  New technology sucks.
