Allen was called in by two of the coaches and told every player has to get out of football at some point -
he is good and a hard worker and he has improved - but they reported that none of that matters -
they are mad because his parents called to inquire about what was going on - we are his parents for God's sake -- he is 19 -- we were never rude - we wanted to know how to help Allen and the situation- that is all -- the coaches got caught not knowing an edibility rule and there are other players in Allen's same situation and the players are unaware if it and apparently, so were the coaches -
the other players on the team have told Allen he is the hardest hitter and they have told Allen to go easy on them - he has earned the respect of all the players -- and he is was a freshman -- one coach told Allen he will be on the field playing in a year -- he has been given nothing but encouragement and compliments in front of the entire team -- a coach told the team all the freshman were worth nothing but Bubba -- they all call him Bubba
Allen has gone above and beyond what was expected and this is how he is treated -- the coach came to Conroe looking for Allen -- and Allen has done all he should do and more -
Allen could have gotten 12,000 dollars from the Aggie's Mom's Club but he was going to play football so he had to give it up -- ( that was last year ) and there was other money he had to give up because he wanted to play football -
why is this happening ? ( it might have been 15,000 from the Mom's club)
Allen does not drink and come in with a hangover like some of the players and he has been pointed out for that -- the coaches used him as an example
what is going on?
this will be hard for Allen to have been a part of the Big 12 --- and now not to be -- it is a big deal -
you give your all and this is how you are treated
what life lesson does that teach Allen
He may go to Colorado of the Minds -- they want him
but he hates snow and that is so far away from home
and he worries about being so far away from me and you know my situation with dialysis

thanks for the "earful"

this is such a bummer, Twirl.

And it didn't need to happen. ARGH!

I hope this challenge helps Allen grow into a stronger person. My husband always tries to remind me that challenges are a road to growth, but it isn't easy to remember that all the time.

My heart goes out to Allen and your whole family.

Wow Twirl, i am sorry that this is happening to Allen. he seems like a good boy. And your a great mother to have called imagine all the parents that don't call where will those kids end up. You know the saying "When one door closes a window will open" i hope that he gets the opportunity to go play elsewhere. he deserves a chance. I hope that they find a way at another school for him... Stay strong and keep the faith...

Oh twirl  :cuddle; What a crappy way for Allen to be treated. I'll pray that much better days are ahead for him and your family. Something much better for him will come along, just wait and see.  :cuddle;

What Aleta said...I think he will be fine in the long run..  Hang in there Bubba!  There are other good  schools.  I can think of one offhand.

I'm with Karol, if this is how they treat honest hardworking lads like Allen then they don't deserve him.  He will find a team where he is appreciated, it will be hard I know but he has great paretns and is a good lad, he will turn out OK.
Sending you all a hug  :grouphug;

It's a tough tough situation for Allen and also you guys as his parents.  I agree that they don't deserve him and I hope that things work out so that in the long run this will not feel so painful.   :cuddle; :grouphug; :cuddle;

Doesn't the NFL have try outs?  Can't he just go from this to the NFL?

I'd look into a lawyer.  His counselor should have told him.

So sorry!!

Twirl, I am so upset I just want to hit something!!   I am sorry all of you are going through this. Poor Allen. College is tough enough without all this extra stress.  I am sure the future will be fine, but right now it all pretty much stinks!  I hate that this has happened.  Sending lots of hugs and love   :cuddle;    :cuddle;   :cuddle;

I am so sorry.  It sounds like it is the Aggie's loss.  My household gets VERY excited for football season as my youngest son is starting his 7th year in Pop Warner (I have been  the teams Business Manager/Player Administrator for every year) I can not imagine what you are going through.  My thoughts and prayers go out to him for things to work out.
