Can someone tell me if before D you took lasix and did it work for you . I have been taking for yrs but lately it doesnt seem to be working. I am staying swelled, my feet and legs. Im not using restroom as often as I should be. Does that mean my kidneys are playing out or could it be something else? I know this seems like a stupid question but it is a concern of mine.

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think Lasix works very well if your kidney's aren't working. Someone else here will know more than me. Talk to your doctor. Holding fluid isn't good for your heart.

I agree with kelly.
They had me on lasix towards the end of my transplant and it came to a point no matter how much they gave they worked very little. I started dialysis shortly afterwords.

My post transplant doctor didn't want to give me Lasix after transplant. My regular nephrologist just placed me on Lasix about a month ago (6 months post transplant) and I'm only supposed to take it when/if there is fluid on me. I take it maybe twice a week. I won't be on it long I'm sure.
Be careful with Lasix. Ask your doctor how much longer you'll be on it.

Watch out for the Lasix, my husband was using for about 1 and 1/2 years without dialysis, and then all of a sudden he started to swell. He became very tired, and when he finally got his blood tested, he was lacking a bunch of vitamins, and was hospitalized. He then went another month, and was hospitalized again. Between the Kionex and lasix, it was depleting his body of nutrients. He is now back on Dialysis, and no longer needs the Lasix, and the kionex.
Good Luck

Lasix works "with" your kidney to pull off fluid. So, if your kidney is not working or just barley working, then lasix will not work.

I take 80 mg of Lasix on non-dialysis days. I still have some kidney function so it seems to work well to keep the fluid off between treatments.

I took lasix up until my transplant. And, I had taken it for years and years although I think they kept upping the dose - trying to remember........ I had some kidney function and still produced urine (although not much). My meds changed so much every three to six months it is hard to remember (and it was almost even harder trying to take all the meds during the day.)
