God's Action Figure

WWW
« on: June 11, 2009, 10:38:11 PM »

Today at 11am, my Uncle Tommy was buried due to complications related to Dialysis.

Tommy was a vibrant, hilarious, quick witted, genial gentleman.  He was also a father, grandfather, uncle, husband, Marine, policeman.  And one hell of a great guy to boot.

Two years ago he was prescribed a medication that caused his kidneys to fail.  He began Dialysis shortly afterward.

One week ago he suffered a massive heart attack and passed away.  His heart just couldn't handle the burdens of Dialysis.

Spin the sands of time to the present day.  His funeral was earlier today and over a hundred people attended.

I have so many regrets related to his passing.

Why am I so wrapped up in my illness that I didn't make the time to ask about his.

Why didn't I take the time to drive the two hours to visit more?

Why does a tainted soul like myself continue to live while someone so loved and cared for was taken too early?

Thank you for everything Tommy.  Laugh, and smile, and rest in peace.

I too am sorry for your loss Stacy.  :cuddle;

And as Okarol said.. Please don't be hard on yourself. Dialysis has me    :boxing;  day by day, I barely have the time or energy to catch up with anyone.
You have had your share of problems to deal with too. I am sure he knew you cared about him.

Oh Stacy...

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss...

May your uncle rest in peace...

Take heart from your friends here... Don't be too hard on yourself... Nobody understood the situation you're in yourself more than your uncle did... He knew the physical, emotional, and psychological side of it better than most... He's not holding anything against you, so don't hold anything against yourself...

Lots and lots of  :grouphug;...

I and my mum will be thinking of, and praying for you...

May God bless and protect you and all of your family...

Regards...

I am so sorry to hear about your Uncle. May he rest in peace.
I hope you know you are a valued person and shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Living with kidney disease isn't easy and all you can do is the best you can within your abilities. I'm sure your beloved Uncle would have understood.

I wish to thank each and every one of you for your kind and compassionaite comments.  I just finished blogging about my Uncle and writing the condolence note to my aunt.  The grief will follow me like an unwanted shadow, but the memories will last me until the end of my days.

Thanks again everyone.  Its always comforting to know you're always present.
