I have been on dialysis for over 10 years.

« on: May 19, 2009, 01:13:12 PM »

Well hi there everyone, my name is Chris.  I am 34 years old and have been on dialysis now for the better part of ten years.  I received a transplant in 2001 and it lasted one year and four months.  Have been back on dialysis since feb 2003.  Dialysis takes up most of my life.  I live alone and my mother recently passed at the age of 55 from cancer.  I have had it rough lately.  I would like to make some new friends because I really have no one.

Hiya and welcome.  This is a great place to be.  Lots of people who often have lots of time to fill getting to know each other.  It'll make a huge difference to your outlook on dialysis!  We all know how you feel - the ups and the downs.  Look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome to our community, Chris!  Your name is special to me since that is my grandson's name (Christopher)  it is also my grandfather's name and the name of a brother (both deceased).
You have certainly been handed some real challenges.  However, i am always amazed at the strength of the human spirit in the face of challenges.  You will make it.  And now you have your IHD family  :grouphug; to go through it all with you.  You are not alone.  Feel free to rant, rave, rage or just vent here.  Keep reading and keep posting.  Let us know how you are doing.

Sorry about your mom. She is an angel watching over you. You are never alone.

I am glad that you found this group. This group is so supportive and very informative.

Are you listed for another kidney? If so, I hope that you get one that lasts a lifetime this time.
