Well today we had In-Law day at my brothers, it is a family day to show the in-laws (sister in law, brother in laws) how much we appreciate them and how happy we are that they are part of our family. I am the youngest of 6 children and both my parents have passed.  I am in ESRD and I have 1 sister that had qualified to get the tesing for a Living Donor. That all changed today. She was so upset about it that she really didn't even want to tell me. She is the one that has always been healthy and they told her yesterday that she is a Diabetic. Now she feels that she let me down, but she didn't she cried to the Dr and told them that they had to be wrong and they didn't know why she was so upset.  It was because she feels like I lost my chance. But I did't, She doesn't realize that just the thought that she would go through all that for me lets me know that she is a loving sister and I appreciate her for even thinking about it..  It just wasn't meant to be I guess..  ???

You know . i understand her being upset. My mother was a match and is not functioning up to par. My sister is diabetic. i also had a friend of mine's mother offer to get tested. She did and wasn't a match. And yes what you described sounds like the same reaction from all of mine. But your right. The thought alone is such a good feeling. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy! LOL! I told all 3 of my people. Don't be upset. these things happen. And then i hear just what you heard . I feel I left you down. Not in the least. Now they can just be there for supprot. Thats just as good to me as if they would have been able to donate to me. Just reassure her that your a very touched by her trying it. And your time will come. Good Luck. Never Weaken!

There is a list out there for you to be put on, so tell your sister it is okay.

You are so right Tinah.  It is disappointing that she can't donate but that doesn't change one bit the generosity of the fact that she was willing to do so.  She sounds like a wonderful sister.

I told her that everything happens for a reason and that she is lucky that she found out now so that she can take care of herself. Like Kitkatz said there is alist to be put on. It was harder for me to see her upset than it was to find out she couldn't donate a kidney. And Monrein she is a wonderful sister I just have to remind her of that.. Actually I am very Blessed to have such a loving family ...

I love the thought of In Law Day. Your family sounds amazing. My brother wanted to donate to me. He always thought we were the same blood type. He still gets upset that he couldn't.
