Lately I have been waking up and my eyes or above them I should say, are very puffy. I know it is fluid and I asked my nurse what's up. All she said was better there then in the lungs. Ya, no sh.. I look like I just woke up all the time. I probably should try and reduce my intake to help this go away but why does it go there. It just seems odd...Boxman

Did they start you on any new meds lately?  When my gram started on Januvia, her face swelled up.  Nothing else, just her face.  Turns out it was a med side effect.

yeah that's fluid, same with Nanay for a while. Try challenging your dry weight a bit, and warm towel and massaging around your eyes will help.
maybe you ate a lot this past holidays!

When I had eye surgery I had to sleep with a few pillows to keep my head proped up due to the air bubble put in my eye. When I was on dialysis, I did get the puffy eyes, but didn't ask any of the staff or doctors. What I did was just go back to propping my head up with those pillows and that helped, especially with the feeling it had on my eyes. Now I can't sleep wiithout have those darn pillows propped up, I miss laying flat, but feel odd if I do that.

That's my  :twocents;

Sorry to hear of your puffy eyes Box.  I too get that sometime, but it seems to go as fast as it came.

It's just fluid, and gravity.  The eyes are entirely made up of fluid, and the surrounding tissues will puff up when there is extra fluid in the area.  It will just "pool" when you lay down.  It won't harm you, unless it just keeps adding each day.  Test your weight down.

Hi boxman.  Always had a problem with fluid around my eyes and especially bad since Christmas due to too much salt and not enough sleep. Put two spoons in the freezer - either teaspoons or dessert spoons and then take them out after your shower in the morning and hold them on your eyes for a couple of minutes.  Put them back in and use them again during the day if you need to.  Brilliant for tired eyes as well.  Much cheaper than the excessively expensive products I have been using and to be perfectly honest - the spoons works better!

I have had my pooling of extra fluid go to different parts of my body.  I wish it would just make up its mind.  It use to be my ankles, then left boob then my left quarter of my body.  That has finally gone away!!! YESSS!!!!!   So I would agree with Chris... prop yourself up when you go to sleep and it won't pool as bad by morning.  And try the spoon thing.  That sounds great.  I may even try that one.

Can this just happen in the eye area? About a month ago, I noticed increasing puffiness under my eyes. I just chalked it up to my being tired all the time. It does go away after I've been up a little while. I don't have any other fluid retention any where else though (that i'm aware of anyway).

Fluid can hide in many places on the body and the increased fluid in the bloodstream can lead to higher BP and increased bruising without bumping into anything.

I get fluid retention below my eyes too first thing in the morning. It usually goes away later after I've been up and about. The weird thing is I've been getting fluid retention in my hands. At night now I always have to take off my wedding ring because it gets too tight. The next day I am unable to put it back on till around lunch time. And this is after having the ring re-sized a year ago.
