A hedgehog? How cute!  I didn't know they were kept as a pet. What's it's name and where does it stay (indoors?)

When I was going thru a particularly rough time and depressed and we still had a house, I would spend time sitting out on the back patio late at nite just to collect my thoughts. Then I began feeding critters. They say you shouldn't do that because you could end up attracting rabid animals or having wild animals become dependent on you for their food. Well, call me selfish but at the time, I didn't care so I fed them. I needed to get my mind off things and they were hungry so..

First, let me back up and say that this all got started with feeding birds in the backyard. In a short time, we started keeping track and identified over 30 different species. I didn't even know we had that many until I got a book and started actually watching them. Of course by then, I had to get myself a pair of binoculars. And then I learned their habits. Was a great distraction from stress and depression! Then I graduated to night time critters. I'd tear up soft flour tortillas (was cheaper than bread) and leave bits scattered around a large tree we had in the back yard. I'd then sit on the patio and wait for the show to begin. No joke, at one point I had 10-15 skunks, 5-6 raccoons and a family of possums all showing up like clockwork every nite. Some got along with each other, some didn't. Crazy, huh? I never attempted to feed them by hand nor did I ever try to pet them but imagine sitting just a few yards from that many skunks! I knew it was crazy but considering what-all I was going thru, felt I had nothing to lose and had the need to experience something that I wanted to. They'd see me watching them but so long as I sat still, they could have cared less that I was there. I'm sure the neighbors loved me for that.

Husband had ESRD with Type I Diabetes -Insulin Dependent.
I was his care-partner for home hemodialysis using Nxstage December 2013-July 2016.
He went back to doing in-center July 2016.
After more than 150 days of being hospitalized with complications from Diabetes, my beloved husband's heart stopped and he passed away 06-08-21. He was only 63.

Last October my wife's cat of 19 years passed away so we waited to get some trips out of the way and this March got two kittens, now named Sophie and Betty.  This photo is from right before we got them.

Are they Maine Coon kittens?? Was hard and took a lot of patience but I worked every day for a few months taming a feral kitten until I could make her an indoor kitty. She was just a ball of fluffy fur. Then, like any other kitten, she started growing. Fast. And a lot. She got bigger and bigger, longer and longer. Finally realized she's a Maine Coon and the Vet agrees. She's longer than my arm and weighed 9 pounds when she was just a few months old. She's huge and has to take corners like a tractor trailer. But she's very docile now and loves to be groomed. Anyway, your two fluff balls are beautiful and I love their names!  :clap;

Here is a photo of my Timo. He's going as a "Quarter Paw-nder" for Halloween!
Does anyone else dress up their pets for Halloween? It's the only time I dress him up!

We adopted a black kitty, she was in heat AND lactating, poor girl. She is about 18 months old and a real sweetheart.
Jenna picked her out and I think she got the best kitty! Her name is Luna.
