Mine like to run off with the thread while I'm sewing on my machine.

I hate that soggy feeling when you reach the chewed bit.  It never seems to knit up as easily.

yeah, I've noticed that... Cleo went into my bag and pulled out a ball of yarn that I forgot was there.. I saw it on the floor and thought, "where the heck did that come from?"

This happened a few minutes ago, and I cracked up.  When I started reading The Hobbit the other day (and discovered that the small print caused pain) I marked my spot with an old itunes card.  I set the book on my computer table, meaning to put it away.  My computer table is a tablemate, and it hovers over my bed, so Cleo can sit on the bed and look over the table if she wants.  I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to her, and I felt her bumping the table.  When I looked over, it looked like she was trying to bite my book, but what she had done was get a hold of the itunes card.  She then pulled it out of the book and ran off with it. *LOL*

Hopefully o can upload these pics.  Our oldest is the Nebelung (gray) female, named Puar, who is 6 years old.  The large black male cat is Ravage, he's4.  The youngest is 1.5 years, and she is a sweet, feisty, loyal baby named Twix.  The gray one is very quiet and sweet, but any and has some bathroom issues.  The boy is an excellent hunter, very athletic though fat.  He's very shiny and talkative, but also also like a dog, he likes to.play rough and craves lots of patting and belly rubs.  Twix doesn't meow, only hisses, growls, screams, or lets out a sharp, short "Row!" and them only when upset, scared, or surprised.

Puar hides a,lot, so i do not have two pics of her on my phone.  Poor Puar, the other two are very dominant, and love each other, but we have to dig her out and give her alone time.  I love them so much!

Well, my two kittens are officially full grown as of their 1 year birthday last week.  They both came to me at 6 weeks, weighing 6 ounces each. Dora is just over 11 pounds.   Murphy, posed here by the postal scale I originally weighed them on, has topped out at 15 and 1/2 pounds.  Here's hoping he's stopped growing!

I just had my 14 year old calico put down just 3 days ago  :'( She was suffering with cancer of the spleen. I spent the last day with her cuddling and combing her, talking to her. She was an amazing cat, intelliegnt and emotional. My Barbie

awwww yeah... :(

I was thinking about exactly that kind of thing when mine was snuggling with me this morning all warm and snug and making it bloody difficult to get out of bed (cuz I didn't wanna!) to go to work. I already fear for the day when she has to cross the rainbow bridge, but I know if she's suffering at all then I will help her there with dignity and love, because I wouldn't want her to suffer for me.

However right now she seems just very well and well in control of things (ie: me!) so... hopefully for years to come!

Making the decision to let Reese go back in October was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.  I still miss him sometimes, and I'll sit and tell Cleo all about her big brother.  He died around the same time she was born, so I'm thinking that maybe they passed each other, and he told her to look after me.

July 6 was Whitley's 3rd birthday and first full year with me as my guide dog. On July 5 I surprised her by taking her to the dog beach in the city after my doctors appointment. Being out in the sun killed all energy and well being through the weekend after getting home, so nothing was done except for giving her 2 days off from work and her wearing a birthday hat.

The birthday hat is too cute.. *G*

I can't wait to get my dog, but I'm holding off on sending in the application forms because I know that right now, I'm just not well enough to do the training.  I think Cleo is happy with being the only non human in the house. *G*

Some centers offer home training Riki, but it is an accelerated teaching experience and only one student, you. However the process to get a service dog is pretty much like going for a transplant, hurry up and wait. There is a lot of waiting time between phone interview, home visit interview, and getting a call to come in. Like a transplant list, you can be put on hold. I had to do that and then get a doctors note. The difference between service dog schools and transplant center listings is that you can list at as many centers you want.

This is the second school I've tried.  The first one turned me down flat because I was a dialysis patient.  A friend of mine got his dogs at the first school, before he was on dialysis.  He's looking at getting a new dog, since his last one died a year ago.  He had a fall through the winter, and is waiting for his leg to heal up more (he shattered his knee) before contacting the school.  He's hoping that they'll come to him this time, since it will be his third dog.

Riki my mind is drawing a blank. Are you going for a guide dog?  If so the school I went to would admit you even though you are on dialysis. They would take you to the center in the area as long as you have it set up. Any class time missed would be made up on a one on one session in a condensed form.

I was turned down by two schools and accepted by two schools.

yes, a guide dog.  I didn't even bother applying to the first school.  I emailed them, asking if they knew of the dialysis centres close by.  The person who emailed me back said that she didn't know, and that I shouldn't bother applying because they didn't accept dialysis patients, since dialysis took away from training time.

The second school I looked at, and haven't applied to yet because I know I'm not well enough to do the training at the moment, told me straight off that dialysis didn't matter.  I found a dialysis unit less than a mile from the school.

I was looking at schools in or around NYC.  The closest school to me in Canada is in Quebec, and since I'd have to go on my own, I'd like to go somewhere where people I know are at least close by.  Since my best friend lives in Manhattan, the school that I'm looking at now is in Long Island, so she's only a train ride away.

There's also a weird rule at most of the Canadian schools that says that when a dog retires, it must be returned to the school for adoption.  I'd rather keep the dog myself.  I think that's rather cruel to the dog, to take it away from the person it knows best when it's old and can no longer do the job.  Not to mention that it would break my heart to have to give the dog back.  The American schools don't seem to have that rule.

I went to Guiding Eyes in White Plains/ Yorktown Heights who deals with many different types of medical issues. The only thing you need to pay for is any personal items you want, a small amount of supplies for the dog if you want, anything you want shipped home, pictures other than what is provided. Airfare/ train is provided, along with room and board. With the guide dogs there we have a few options when retirement is in order. Keep the dog, give the dog back to the school, or give the dog to a family member or friend. I had one problem with a school on the west coast and one on the east coast. The main thing to concen yourself is if you meet the visual requirements and have had O&M (cane) training to be accepted.

I had a couple medical issue while I was there which the nurses had to do their thing made me worry after first experience with a school out west, but I made up classes and kept up. I know there are 2 schools in NY and one in NJ.

Don't give up.

I just have to tell you what my cat, Kiki, did. A few weeks back I was sound asleep and Kiki woke me by scratching on the bedroom door and yowling at the top of her little lungs. I figured she wanted to go out, but she ran down the hallway, came back, and ran down again like she wanted me to follow. I did and there was Frank, on the kitchen floor unconcious and convulsing from low blood sugar. She literally saved his life. And the worse part is Frank doesn't like her and constantly shoos her out of the house. She is so loving and intelligent. I've heard of dogs doing stuff like this, but not cats.

Well then, no more sooing away Kiki then from now on!

I had a shetland sheepdog who unexpectedly did this and when the emt's where there I was told she would not budge from my side. Luckily sort of my dad was over to hold him back as they took me away. What I don't get is after being a diabetic since a kid he had no idea what to do and called my mom first. :banghead;

that's awesome..  my grandmother's dog did something similar.  She was acting like she wanted to go out, so Gram got up and went to the door to let her out, but she wouldn't go.  Gram went back in the room to watch tv, and the dog started acting up again, so Gram went back to the door, and she still wouldn't go out.  This time, when Gram turned to go back to the living room, the dog lightly bit her, and started down the basement steps.  They had a wood stove in the basement, and apparently, a live ember was smoldering in the ash can.  The dog was trying to tell Gram about the smoke she could smell.

Hubby and I are "owned" by 5 cats, 3 are related and 2 rescue. Here they are: Nino, Pingu Mindy Twinky & Merlin (Merlin is a girl). they get on pretty well but as in all animal politics there are a few scraps but not many. :D
