Okay, weird question.....  Could my blood sugar levels be a little higher if I don't get ENOUGH carbs?  My bs has been averaging about 125 in the am and pm.  Well... yesterday I was a bad girl and ate 3 tacos and a good hand full of french fries... then later I had a bag of popcorn for a snack.  This morning my bs was 102.  The lowest it has been was 101 in the am and the night before I had eaten a bowl of cereal at midnight (I blame that on the sleeping meds I take.... I was sleep eating.... thats my story and I'm sticking to it!).  I am soooo new to this and just trying to feel my way around so ..... help please  :flower;

If you are an insulin dependent diabetic, you may need to eat before you go to bed to get a lower blood sugar. If your body has nothing to digest overnight, sometimes you get too low and then your liver releases emergency sugar reserves... and you wake with higher blood sugar.

Goofy but true.

04/08 Started Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD)
05/08 Started CCPD (my cycler: The little box of alarms)
07/09 AV Fistula and Permacath added, PD catheter removed. PD discontinued and Hemodialysis resumed
08/09 AV Fistula redone higher up on arm, first one did not work
07/11 Mass found on remaining kidney
08/11 Radical Nephrectomy, confirmed that mass was renal cell carcinoma
12/12 Whipple, mass on pancreas confirmed as renal cell carcinoma

I am diabetic due to prednisone.  We are hoping my diabetes will go away when I get off the prednisone (06/09).  I take 5 mg Glipizide in the mornings.  I take my prednisone after I eat breakfast.

Bedtime snacks are a must for most diabetics - it's necessary to keep your sugar from bottoming out during the night, and causing your liver to dump sugar and raise your morning reading.

Usual bedtime snack for a diabetic is a carb and protein along with 8 oz of milk, such as a sandwich. This was the usual hospital treatment. Sometimes fruit and plain crackers and cheese was used.

Eye impairments and blindness in one eye began in 95, major one during visit to the Indy 500 race of that year
   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
