I met my husband while I was at a convent. I was picked by Mother Superior to be a governess to a Captain who had lost his wife and had 7 children to raise. I taught the lovely children to sing. My life is filled with the "Sounds of Music"..................................

But that Alpine pass you were climbing through was so pretty after you got away from those nasty guys.

My ex-significant other... well, we met through a mutual friend... we stayed together in the begining because I got pregnant.. we then fell more and more love... 6 years later I finally realized we just weren't meant to be together, but only to make our beautiful children. So now I am on the look out for a new "significant other".

The end.  :lol;

At a Denny's restaurant.  21 years ago.  Fresh outta high school.  To be a cook there, all you had to do was
'go to the freezer and get a box'...then microwave.  Fast foward  20 years...Ray is a Chef now and I do aftercare
on a mother/baby hospital unit.  When we drive by the place  (yup, still standing),  we look at each other
and smile.  good times    :)

I came to Canada in 1969 and I met Lee at University here in Toronto in 1970.  I was 16 in my first year and he was 23 in his fourth year of college, he was on the student council and knew everyone.  I had two gerbils and used to walk around with them on my shoulders so he noticed me.  It was also fairly common knowledge that at that time I was the youngest person to have attended that school and he approached me to ask if that was true.  We became great friends, hanging out together every day and he was very protective of me since there were a few older guys who tried to hit on me as a conquest kind of thing and he would hear them talk and would tell them they were nasty cuz I was just a just a "kid".  Lee loves to tease people and he has a pretty whacky sense of humour which I liked.  One day we were going out somewhere with friends and he said some crazy thing so I said "Man, Lee I'd hate to see the girl you're going to marry, she's gonna be  some idiot".  Without skipping a beat, he replied "Gail, if that was my only pre-requisite you'd be first on my list".
Then he started to think differently about me because another pal of ours told him that we'd be good together but I just thought of him as my buddy.  I was dating other guys but he was like a body guard and we still hung out.  He also knew that I was an epileptic and would ask me every day if I'd taken my medicine. I almost fainted when he first made a pass at me and I rejected it with a withering comment.
We met in September 1970 and started living together in February 1971.  He took a lot of heat from some of the guys he'd "protected" me from.

my husband was my cousin's best friend in junior high
 when visiting my cousin, I went everywhere with him
I played all sports and was quite the tomboy
we kind of complimented each other
me the twirler
my husband the football star
however, we were in different cities
got together again in college and I gave up a twirling scholarship to marry him
it was just part of the last year and football season was over
now when I see my cousin, I tell him I do not know rather to kick you or kiss you

Well my story starts off like dis i had just found out dat my kidneys were failing  and i had to go on dailysis and i was non- complyant  and i was missing treatments ,cause i honestly gave up on life and one day a new tech started and she was f#@king  de prettiest thing dat I've seen since i had moved to Delaware( and to dis day ) . I made a few comments bout her butt i didn't think dat she heard me and she was my tech dat day and she sat down and told me dat these people don't give a dam bout me they r just here 4 a check and dat i was only hurting me self and dat as long as she was my tech i was going to stay my whole treatment, i looked her inde eye and told her she is outta her dam mind ,she said we'll see and she didn't take me off til 4 hours later. After dat day she had all of my respect cause she was da first and only person dat told me what i really needed to hear ( my kids mom who i was wit @ da time really didn't give a dam what happened to me i found dis out after i got married).so after maybe six months we stated dating ( i kno dat we shouldn't have done dis but da DON director of nurse's knew dat we were dating and she said cool she would just transfer her to another unit ) to make a long story short we've been together for 10+ yrs and she's been through it all wit me and is still here and she even offerdher kidney to me i told her no cause she is a EMT and dat would have ended her career we have been married for 5 years on may 3 and I WOULDN'T TAKE BAC 1THING

My wife and I grew up together and new each other since we were 8.  Well , I actually new here brother better but we did bump into each other all the time and when we were in high school my sister and her brother set us up for a date.  We ended up engaged in high school (no she wasn't pregnant) and were married before the age of 20.   That was  35 years ago , and we are still together.  Married , best friends ,lovers, soon to be grand parents but still competitors when we play pool or card games.  Kidney disease teaches you what  "for better or worse" really means !!!

My significant other and I were introduced by a friend. When I first saw him, I knew he was right for me. So I invited him home and we have been together ever since. That was 15 years ago. Over the course of time he has put on a bunch of weight (an amazing amount), but I love him just the same. We sleep together every night, face to face, in each other's embrace. I am so happy to have found him!

My cousin was having a birthday get together for her husband.  She invited me because she wanted to introduce me to one of her husband's friends.  I was only 20 and this guy was 28.  Older man who was divorced and had 2 sons.  We've been together ever since - 37 years, married for 32.

Rob showing off his pot of gold!

« Reply #47 on: June 23, 2008, 09:27:58 AM »

Rob and I met through an online dating site.  We made plans to meet a couple of times and I blew him off.  Finally I got brave enough to meet him.  It was a rainy, stormy night.  We met up in a Sears parking lot and I got into his pickup truck (man does that sound like a C&W love song or what?   :sarcasm;).  After our first date I didn't think we would go back out again, so at the end of the date I shook his hand and got back into my car.  He called me 20 mins later and pursued me like you wouldn't believe (not stalker like).  I gave it another shot and so glad I did!  We met in December, moved in together in July and married over a year later in November.  We both had miserable first marriages and didn't want the same to happen, so happy to report we are still madly in love!

The best part is, I think it was fate that we are together.  His mom and I both share the same name, except we spell them differently and it's not a name you hear that often (Larraine) AND his mom and I have the same birthday.  Is that crazy or what???  Rob loves to joke around that he married his Mom, Rob is also a junior.  We all flew together once and they dropped his parents from the list because they thought it was a typo.  It definitely makes life interesting!  Especially when we have to fill out paperwork where we have to list his parents names.  :rofl;

My wife's mother was my school bus driver in 8th grade.  We didn't date until much later when I was 21 years old.  We went to a movie in Atlanta, 2 hours away.  On the way home I was driving and asked her for a Certs and leaned over so she could pop it in my mouth.  Instead of giving me a Certs, she gave me a kiss.  Luckily there was nobody else on the road as I was not doing a good job of staying in my lane.

The t-tops were off of the car and the wind was loud so she claims she didn't hear me ask for the Certs.  We've been together ever since; married 25 years.

All I asked for was a Certs, honest.
