Now that most of you know my wife is online also helping complete our support line...Our
meeting each other was very special also .

We met just as I was diagnosed with ESRD and If I were her I probably would have run!! :banghead;

We lived in Orange County Ca at the time...I was divorced about a year and had answered a few personal ads in
the Penny Saver paper . So I thought I would place one.  She was the only one to answer it . and actually she
never noticed it . A friend of hers had the paper and said "I will find you a date and pointed to my ad ."  She called
it and we talked on the phone for a short time and decided to go out the next weekend .  We also talked a couple
of nights that week .
Our first date , was 8 hours long , Having met for lunch at 1 O'Clock and dropping her off at her car at 9 O'Clock pm .
We went out every night that week and about 2 weeks later I asked her to marry me .

Her parents wanted us to wait a year at least so we did , exactly 1 year to the hour . We got marrid at 1 O'Clock in the
afternoon 1 year later .  Have gone thru many health issues , she still stuck around.  She is a wonderful person.

We met in college while living in the dorms. Started out as good friends and things progressed from there. We will be celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary this summer, though we have been together for 27 years. He has been my rock while learning to deal with kidney disease these last 6 years.

I love reliving (in my head) the night i met my hubby, it was all fate (at least i am claiming that it is)  Here is our story:  I used to work at a Convalescent Hospital and i was staying with my best friend and her family at the time,  i was the only one with a car (and a job that made me work on Saturdays) anyways, after working my shift, i got off at 6pm, tired i went home and my friends were there all ready to go out, i was the only one with a car and they begged me to go "cruisin"  i told them to let me rest for a bit then we'd go.  After a couple of hours and me getting ready, we went to go shoot a cruise and it was happenin' there was all kinds of people out so i decided to shoot one more before going and scoring some beer from someone over the age of 21 and going back home.  It was that second cruise that did it,  the flashing lights, not a cop car, but a car behind us wanting to pull over,  i had about 4 girls in my car (a'78 Monte Carlo) :P that were telling me to pull over, and me being the paranoid person that i am, pulled over at the park where there were alot of people,  it was a friend of ours, Mike, telling us they just did a beer run and they had 2 cases of beer if we wanted to party, he was in a car with a bunch of guys, since we knew him and the kind of guy he was (and hung out with) we decided to go to the "lot" which was an empty cul de sac out in the country, and get the party started.  While out there, everyone mingling, meeting and greeting everyone and having a good time, i was still a little tired and i was sitting in the car with my friend Mike while he fixed my car stereo, he then started telling me that his "friend" (who is Sam)  liked me and wanted to meet me and i started asking him some questions about him, he sounded safe so i got out of the car and stood next to Sam (who was sitting on the trunk of my car) looked at him, he looked at me, and i rubbed his back RUBBED HIS BACK?? WTF?? to this day, i still dont know why i rubbed his back, but i am so glad i did, cuz after rubbing his back, i went and stood by Mike's friends car and Sam followed me, he asked me my name, i told him, he asked me if he could kiss me, and, the rest is history folks,    I bet your sorry you asked huh?  lol,  Thank you for making my day thinking back to that day  :waving;

Len and I met at a Christmas party. We were both married to others at the time, both horrible. In Janurary, I split with my husband and in February he and his wife split up and we started dating. We were married on Christmas day 1978. We are going to celebrate 29 years this Christmas. :cuddle;

By the way, Len and my ex-husband get along. Go figure. :lol;

goofynina you are a very warm-hearted and caring person - even from this distance I can see that and understand why you rubbed his back!  :cuddle;

My husband loves to tell 'stories.' He has told me to tell the boys we met at a dance. Ok, we WERE dancing but it was last call at a disco club! ha ha

I saw him from across the room, his red sweater caught my eye. I ran over to him because the bar was closing and I knew the last dance would be slow and I did NOT want to dance with the person whom I was just dancing with. So I ran over to him and asked him if he wanted to dance. He said yes. He looked at me halfway through the dance and said, 'You improved my day 100%.'

Then he drove me to my girlfriend's house and called me back to his van. He said 'I just wanted to get one more look.' See TOLD you he loved to tell stories - even if they are one-liners.

We have been married 25 years, together for 31! Good thread Katonsdad.

BTW, my BFF found the man she's going to marry online!

We met in an MSN chatroom back when they were free and not filled with spammers. I had just left my husband a couple of months before and moved in with my parents, so didn't know anyone in the area. He lived just a few towns away, so we met for dinner one night. By the end of the night, I was hooked, but it took another year and a half of "just friends" for me to convince him that we were made for each other. We just celebrated our first anniversary in September. I agree with the others...the internet rocks!

BTW, he has no previous marriages, no children, and no health problems. Then there's me...I would have run screaming in the other direction if I were him!

I was working as a waitress in a coffee shop on third shift-he was friends with the cook.. the first time I saw him he had just killed a wild boar by cutting its throat after he jumped on it...he came by to show off the spoils..(he IS a man's man).he was working as a Tireman changing 18 wheeler tires...and he started coming in more and more..he used to come in hungry- and I would always give him a little extra attention (and extra food) the tips got bigger and bigger....he came in more and more until one day we decided we were friends. We started hanging out after work (mostly hunting) in the woods, or going fishing, just pals for awhile, then we upped it a level one night- he moved in four months later, we were living together- then 5 years later -he bought me a big diamond and proposed on Christmas Morning. 14 years ago. these days I like to tell him he is so hot I could fry an egg on him!!! and the children gag and pretend to barf LOL!!!

I lived in a regional town and was a metal music fan (still am). If you were wearing a heavy metal t-shirt in that town, you really stood out, because not many people did.

Anyway, I was one of the naughty kids at school who smoked cigarettes every day on the back oval. One of the girls in this little smoking circle , Kylie, said to me one day "My brother has noticed you around town, calls you 'Megadeth woman' " (a reference to the shirt I virtually lived in at the time). Apparently he was a metal fan too, and wanted to meet me so Kylie arranged a meeting, and we started "going out". Turned out, we were both fans of bull terriers as well!

That was December of 1989. We married in March of 1999. He's my best mate, I guess!

My husband and I met in high school - yes, we were high school sweethearts! We dated for five years, and were married on February 26, 1983. So, we will be celebrating our 25 year anniversary in February and have been together for 30 years! (Gawd...I was but a child!)

I was assisting a banquet manager at a country club. He had tagged along to his friends wedding at the club. He says after 5 tequila shots he had the nerve to speak with me. We got together later that week, married 5 1/2 years later, it'll be 24 years next month. In Nov. we will have been together 30 years.

I met John at a friends' apartment.  I had met this couple, Eric and Angela, through a friend and had been going over to their apt. for a couple months.  They had an 8 month old little boy named Kellan and I would babysit him occasionally.  Angela was sooo jealous and we didn't get off to a good start because Eric had cheated on her before and she just didn't trust any woman around him.  She came home one day and I was there visiting with Eric and his brother Marcus and went off on me for no reason.  It was pretty clear that I was there more because of Marcus since my legs were entwined with his.  But she had a temper.  Eric chewed her out and told her to go apologize to me 'cause I wasn't like that!  So, she did and found out we had another friend in common and after she called the guy, Travis, and talked to him she decided that I was okay after all.  I had ratted Travis out in 9th grade when he dated three of my friends at once!  lol

I dated Marcus for a while but that didn't work out.  Eric had set us up so I was like no more, Eric.  A couple weeks later I get a call from Eric saying, "Hey, why don't you come down.  I got someone I want you to meet."  And so I reluctantly went over to Eric and Angela's.  Eric introduced me to John who lied and told me he was 26.  I was 21 so he was afraid if I knew he was really 30 that I wouldn't wanna date him and he was probably right.  We met in July 1993 5 days after his birthday which he shares with my sister, Kelli.  After meeting we spent a lot of time on the phone and eventually I was at his house constantly only going home to give my dad rent money.  I had told John in the beginning that my transplanted kidney was in rejection and I would need dialysis soon.  I really don't think he knew what he was getting into!  That was until my dad said to me, "You know, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for you to be paying me rent when you're always out at John's.  So why don't you talk to him abt you moving in there?"  And I did.  I officially moved in here in November 1993.  He proposed in January 1994 shortly after my second transplant rejected and I had to go on dialysis.  He was my home dialysis helper for abt a year.  It was too stressful on our relationship and I like going to the center better anyway.  We haven't gotten married yet but we have been talking abt it again.  Married or not we're together and his family loves me.  His mom always called her daughter when she was here and his nephew calls me his aunt.  We both have common roots.  We both have family from North Dakota so I think that's why we hit it off so well right from the start!  John stuck with me through all the health problems and I hadn't been diagnosed with bipolar disorder yet when we met.  He stuck by me through all my blow ups and rantings and I left quite a few times before realizing that I had the same thing as my mom...bipolar disorder.
