Hi, my name is Carol and I have a daughter who has just recently developed problems with her kidneys. We don't know why but she has had a lot of kidney infections in the last few years. She is 25 years old. She isn't on dialysis, and I hope she won't need it but I joined this forum so I would be prepared for it if that time comes.
Another interesting thing about me is that I have a cousin who works for an organization that matches donors with people waiting for transplants, but I hope we will never need to use her organization.

Hi, Carol.

 :waving;

I also hope your daughter never needs dialysis, but you are wise to become informed!

Welcome, Hurricane, and you are very Wise to try to prepare for the "possibility" of her doing D.  How very brave of you to arm yourself with knowledge of this disease!  Hopefully, it will not be, but at least you will be prepared if it should come to this! So many on this forum had no warnings whatsoever and had to absorb so much in little time!

We thank you for being the Loving mother that you are!  It is hard when you see your child go through this, and it is our "instincts" to protect or shelter at all costs! Your love is so evident in your post and the "fear" also! And though I hope she never does D., if she has to, then it is not the end of the world!  D. is doable and it is just a thing one must do in order to live! IHD is a fantastic site to learn all things Dialysis. I was so thankful to have found it, hope you will find it helpful also.

I pray she doesnt have to do Dailysis

 :welcomesign; Welcome Carol!  This site has a lot of very good information.  Not only about once kidneys have failed but also lifestyle changes that may prolong the time before needing dialysis.  Your daughter and you are in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
