Going through life tied to a chair!

Hi Mick and welcome to IHD.  I'll be 50 next July.  My kidneys failed when I was 24, so I've either been doing dialysis or transplant since then.  I live in the US.  It sounds like you have it under control with sticking yourself.  I'd die waiting with the needle in my hand.  No way!

Hope you like it here and come and post often.

Oh wait...NxStage is now available in the UK?  I knew that Gordon Brown had spoken about it when he was still PM, but I didn't realize that it's already available!  That's great!

I used to live in the UK...South Croydon.

:welcomesign; Mick! You're vaguely in my neck of the woods, but it's my Blokey (husband) who's on dialysis.

NxStage is now available in the UK?
I don't think it's available everywhere over here yet, MM (although I'm happy to be wrong).  I have a vague recollection of Blokey saying that his neph had mentioned that there was at least one other portable machine that the NHS may also be considering, but that was a few months ago.

Welcome to our community!  And a special welcome from a member of the Commonwealth (born in Barbados, living in the British Virgin Islands)  The founder of IHD, Epoman, had started NxStage and really loved it.  You will see that we have a whole section for NxStage users.  You have found a great place for information, support and encouragement.  In fact you have found a genuine family  :grouphug; , so just keep reading and keep posting.  Let us know how things are going with you (in the appropriate sections, of course!)
