 ::)    Paris, after all you've been through in your family, you should demand a screening process in order to marry into your family.   :rofl;  YOU will be the screener, BTW.   You don't need this crap.

There is a time for all things, and that includes sickness!

He's a twit - but then he is responsible for how many more people who are now praying - for Katy to wake up!

Just look at Jesus. He had perfect faith and nothing bad ever happened to him.

Really?

Good discussion- probably should take it elsewhere so as to not threadjack.

I have talked with Katy's Mom and got a long email from Katy.  She is upset with Neil and embarrassed that he insulted so many of her relatives. Hopefully, this has made her aware of a huge problem that they need to address before this relationship goes any further.  The good thing is she cannot get married right now. The adoption process is ongoing and is only with Katy. If she gets married, the process would start from the very beginning.   So, maybe time will take care of the problem.

Introduce Katy to me. I have always liked girls named Kate. I'll flirt my way in and remind her that not all guys are like that.  :rofl;  >:D  :rofl;

I hope she can come to her senses and realise that the first guy to show serious interest in her doesn't have to be THE ONE. I am sure she feels her options are limited at her age, and if she's as you say "large, plain and bi-polar" - well I've had plenty of "large and plain" girlfriends and they are beautiful people. If she's so unhappy with herself, body wise etc, perhaps there are things she can do FOR HER (not for anyone else) to improve that - exercise, diet, lapband, whatever.... to get her feeling more confident about herself and her ability to find a guy that better suits her.

Hopefully she'll realise that when she's constantly forced into defending her boyfriend when she probably doesn't agree with half the stuff he's spouting that it's time to move on.

I say keep the thread up. While it has fired up people I think it will have got quite a number of people thinking about the subject, and anytime that the issues of organ donation are out in the public, it  can only be good if it gets just one person to think "Yes, I want to do this." and make it happen - then it's all worthwhile.

Oh Richard, I wish I could have you meet Katy!  I probably didn't sound very kind when I described her.  She has spent her whole life hearing everyone tell her sister how beautiful she is and I always felt bad for Katy.  And then as a teenager, her behavior became so odd. Thankfully, her Mom found great help for her and Katy went on to college and is now a social worker.  She has a fullfilling career and now her sweet little girl, so her life is pretty good.  It would be better without Neil.   I have had more phone calls from Ohio than I ever had.  People are worried that I am upset.   I'm not; just worried for Katy and what will happen now.   Thank you for all your comments.   I will let you know if anything new happens.

RM...you are a gem of a guy for offering to do this for Katy.  And Paris, I think it's a great idea even if they only meet online.  Maybe RM can help her realize a few things.

I have a stepdaughter who is also a large girl with a poor self-image and is emotionally stunted.  I worry so much that she will fall for the 1st guy that comes along and pays attention to her and then he will turn out to be a jerk.  So...kudos to you RM for being willing to help.

how did i miss this???? both here and on facebook. well i know how i missed it here, i'm not around as much as i used to be. but i check my friends on facebook almost every day. one consoling thought... just because he checked no to organ donation doesn't mean he won't become an organ donor. the way things are set up now if asked, his family could still say yes. not that i advocate he leave the planet, but i've always been a firm believer in "what goes around, comes around"

Perhaps he never heard of Luke the physician who also wrote two books of the Bible, Luke and Acts.  I have absolutely no problem with medicine and Christianity with no doubt that the vocation I spent my adult life in was where the Lord wanted me.  Prayer and faith are a very important part of our life, as well as science based remedies.  Wisdom and knowledge are a virtue in the Bible.  They are not incompatible at all.
