I am annabanana and caregiver to my husband Randy. In the summer of 2007 Randy was diagnosed with PCT, a skin condition linked to HepC. He was told to get tested but didn't because he was also having problems with what was diagnosed as chronic pleurisy. This led to a lung scan which showed kidney cancer. The kidney was completely removed in August, all cancer supposedly gone. The surgeon said his liver looked bad so they tested for HepC and it was positive. He has probably had HepC for 30+ years. We started to tackle that beast when his remaining kidney started to fail. He's been in and out of the hospital since then. Anemic, high potassium and phosphorus. He has a colonoscopy scheduled for next month. He has a urologist, a hepatologist, and now a nephrologist, who says his ckd is caused by HepC...but the urologist says it isn't....His neph said it's too dangerous for a kidney biopsy. He also said Randy isn't ready for dialysis YET, implying that he'll need it eventually. We've been told different things about his ability to do HepC treatment because of his kidney problems. It's all very confusing. Thank God for the internet and especially for all of you at IHD. I've gotten 95% of my info here. And THANK YOU, okarol, for leading me here! I've been reading on this site for a while and I love all of you! ---annabanana

Welcome to ihatedialysis.com Annabanana,

Thanks for posting your introduction. Randy is so lucky to have your love and caring. Being a caregiver is a difficult job as well. My hats off too you the unsung hero in Randy's life. We have a caregivers section for you to be able to rant and read how the other caregivers cope with this disease.

I hope you enjoy your stay here and I hope you become an active member by posting often.

annabanana --
Welcome to IHD!  This site has been so good for me (also a caregiver to my husband Marvin).  There's plenty of info here, and that's great.  But, the best thing is there are people here who know where you've been and know where you are now.  This is a family, and I have received so much love, support, and encouragement from all the folks here.  You will, too.  Let us be your extended family.

Welcome to the boards!  Caregivers always have a special place and view point,  Thanks for coming on over to help Randy with more information.  I find the medical profession often contradicts itself and looking on the internet can help to sort out misconceptions.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

Keefer, we live in Murfreesboro, about 30 miles south of N'ville.
We work in N'ville almost every day, though.
(And sometimes party there...) :bandance;

Where did you live in N'ville?
