What's dialysis?

« on: August 22, 2006, 02:43:58 PM »

Hello,

my name is Matt and I have just discovered this website.  I live in Dumfries in Scotland and only discovered I suffer from Aports Syndrome 2 months ago.  It basiclally causes deafness and and kidney failure.  I am on haemo dialysis at the moment and have just had my fistula created in my arm.  I am 34 years old and as you can all imagine, this was a major shock to my system cos I was living life like any normal young single guy would.  I am very new to the world of dialysis and all it entails so I`m sure I`ll be leaning on the more experienced members of this little group for advice on any situation which may arise.

Welcome to the site Mattboy,

I am sure if you have any questions the members of the site will try to answer them for you. There is a vast experience of all types of renal failure on the site. I know what a shock it must be for you.

Welcome MattyBoy100. You will be a great addition to the site. Itīs a place to teach and learn, vent and rant, cry and laugh. Truly sorry about your condition. Itīs never easy but thereīs always a positive side, too.

Hi Matt! I am 32 and been on this hemo now for a year. Pretty new to it still and my fistula is FINALLY working .. (4 days now working without any problems! Woohoo!)

Used to be on Peritoneal Dialysis but I know it does suck having this so young. Don't worry. We all understand and are very active here :) You can vent and appreciate everyone's ability to be so honest here :) I am glad you are here  ;D

Hi Matty Boy ,

Oh the joys of being young with kidney failure.

Here's my wish list not that long really, just have all those lab coat wearing researchers get there asses into gear (or at least their kidneys lol)  and find us a cure.

Can anyone find us all a genie?

Not asking for three wishes just one.

Matt, welcome to our site.  Sorry you got blasted so young.  I'm sure even if you are 75 you must feel you are too young for this crap.  Please read the site's rules  http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=540.0

We also have a game (arcade) site at www.dialysischat.com or just click on games.
