Introducing Myself

Well I'm 17 and I joined onto this website so I could talk to people who are on dialysis or who know someone on dialysis. My dad is on dialysis.
My dad is 60 and he about 7 years ago my dad was diagnosed with throat cancer. He decided to do chemo & radiation for it. He found out 8-9 months later that the chemo had made it where his kidneys worked with only 30% function. They didn't start his kidney dialysis until a couple months after that. Ever since then he has been in and out of the hospital more times that I can count and/or remember.

Welcome. Your dad is my age. Sometimes dialysis can reverse damage done by chemo. I hope it happens for him.

Welcome to our community! I really appreciate your joining us. Though I am nearly your dad's age, I too was Daddy's little girl up to 12 years ago!! (though my daughter kind of challenged that position!) And I saw him through fatal kidney failure. Wish I had this site at that time. This is a place to find information, support, a place to vent when you need to, and even have some fun. Please keep us posted on how your dad is doing. Here a group hug for you -
Looking forward to hearing from you.

This is an excellent site for support! I'm sorry you're going through this. I pray your Father starts feeling better soon. Like Flip said, maybe the dialysis will reverse the damage done by chemo. Here's hoping!

Thanks for joining!
I am 55 and my son is also, like you,17.
Your sentiments can help me get some perspective on what he must be going through as he deals with these issues too. I look forward to reading more of what you have to say.
