Hi to everyone!  I am Debi, the wife of a dialysis patient.  Russ has been on dialysis since April and hates it and I hate what he has to go through.  This is all new to us so bear with me if I ask a lot of questions.  He was turned down for a kidney transplant here because he also needs a liver so we travel to Cleveland next week for testing and stuff.  I am so afraid that if gets turned down, he will stop dialysis, which has been on his mind a lot lately.

Welcome to our community!  This is just the place for you and you husband to be.  So sorry it is such a bad experience that he is contemplating stopping it. well, you just will have to be strong for him.  There are lots of people here with spouses and loved ones on dialysis.  check out the caregiver's sections.  Lots of support there.  please take advantage of all our site has to offer.  Here is a flower to cheer your day.  :flower;

Welcome, Debi. Tell him to hang in there. Dialysis is like fine wine....it gets better with age.

Welcome Debip, glad you found us and I hope you'll post often with your questions and your own experiences.  It's not easy being a caregiver especially when the patient sometimes has different ideas about how to manage the illness.  I've been at this awhile and so have many of us here and we really are a very supportive group. :waving;

Welcome, Debi.   Sounds like you husband has had a rough time.  I have a friend in his early 70's that first had a liver transplant then a year later a kidney transplant.  That was 4 years ago and he is still doing very well.   Also, my brother-in-law goes to Cleveland Clinic every month to meet with a liver transplant surgeon. He will need a transplant in the future, but for now, is dealing with complications of his liver failing. They love the doctor at C.C.   I hope you have a good experience there.  Please keep us posted.  You are dealing with too many things.  We are here to lend support :grouphug;

Welcome to the site.  Keep finding things out for your husband.  Hope is sometimes the rope we all hang on to when we go through tough times.

Hi Debi, and welcome. Sorry to hear about your husband's problems accepting dialysis. That's not new or exceptional, we all have problems accepting dialysis, even after many years. The point is not to let these feelings get the upper hand, stay positive. Even without the possibility of a transplant, life with dialysis is better then giving up.
