Has anyone bought a house while on SSDI?  I know the lenders cannot discriminate against me, officially anyway, but I feel like they'll find another reason to anyway.

So, just in case anybody sees this in the future and is wondering, I got approved for a FHA loan on SSDI with 3.5% down.  I had to provide my award letter and a letter from the doctor certifying that my disability is permanent and indefinite.

It is against the law for them to ask what my disability is and so I didn't tell them.  I didn't want them to think, "Oh, he might get a transplant and be all better!"  It gets on my nerves to no end when ignorant people act as if a transplant is a cure what ails us.

Anyway -- so, yes -- it is possible to get a home loan on SSDI!
