My name is mike,im 41.I had a stroke 08 and they found i had cardiomyapathy (ENLARGED HEART) and chf.had a ICDplaced. This is all due to uncontrolled malignet hypertension,have been on 13 meds ever since.Have not been able to work and this is very hard for me.i was in Marine corps. when i was 17 and have worked ever since.Anyway was admitted to hospital this weekend with bp 220/139 did a bunch of tests and they founf i have protine in urine,and my creatine was3.7 so now am seeing a neph. today.just wanted to say whats up and i appreciate this site.GO BUCKEYES!!!!

Protein in the urine and a creatinine of 3.7 usually means kidney disease of some sort.  Uncontrolled hypertension can cause kidney damage, and since you have experienced this, I wouldn't be surprised if your kidneys were affected.  Please let us know what your neph has to say.  I'm guessing that more tests will be in order, and once the results come back, you'll have a better idea of what to expect next.

I'm glad you joined and hope you will keep us informed about your situation.

I can't add much to what MooseMom said; she hit the nail on the head. But I can say: ANOTHER BUCKEYE?! You'll find there are a lot of us here!

Welcome aboard !  This site will provide you with much needed information.  Check out the information about renal diet.  It's something you can try to take control of now that you're aware of this diagnosis.  Best of luck.

May 13, 2009, went to urgent care with shortness of breath
May 19, 2009, went to doctor for severe nausea
May 20, 2009, admited to hospital for kidney failure
May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium
august 25, 2009, access placement
January 16, 2010 thrombectomy was done on access

im from the warren/youngstown area.Thank you all for the replies.it sucks having a serious illness,but heaven wont take me and  hells afraid i'll take over :boxing;
