Protein in the urine and a creatinine of 3.7 usually means kidney disease of some sort.  Uncontrolled hypertension can cause kidney damage, and since you have experienced this, I wouldn't be surprised if your kidneys were affected.  Please let us know what your neph has to say.  I'm guessing that more tests will be in order, and once the results come back, you'll have a better idea of what to expect next.

I'm glad you joined and hope you will keep us informed about your situation.

Hi, Mike!  :welcomesign;

I can't add much to what MooseMom said; she hit the nail on the head. But I can say: ANOTHER BUCKEYE?! You'll find there are a lot of us here!

Good luck with your neph visit and let us know how everything turns out.

Welcome aboard !  This site will provide you with much needed information.  Check out the information about renal diet.  It's something you can try to take control of now that you're aware of this diagnosis.  Best of luck.

Hi, bucknut!  Your history sounds a lot like mine.  Don't be discouraged.  Follow your nephrologist's advice carefully and, otherwise, just live your life.  You've come to the right place for help and information.  Lots of good people here.  All the best on your journey.
