prednisolone and cyclosporin at same time?
«

Hi everyone, i have a question which may sound a bit silly but would love your opinions!
I am now 7 months since my transplant and fingers crossed all is going well!!! I am taking 7.5 prednisolone every morning about 9am with breakfast and then cyclorporin (125) at 11am and (100) at 11pm. My question is do you think i could take my presnisolone at 11am with the first dose of cyclorsporin? Then i would just take the pills at 11am and 11pm.
I know it may seem a stupid question but i just think it would so much easier to just have two time a day to remember and as my break at work is 11am i would be able to just take them all then. I did ask my doc at transplant clinic on Monday and he said he thinks (thinks?!!) it would be ok and there is no reason why they cant be taken at the same time but i am too scared to change it.
Incase you haven't noticed i am a MASSIVE worrier when it comes to the kidneys!! Just sooooo amazing grateful for this kidney and i guess as things are going so well too scared to change anthing in case i jinx something! On the otherhand would love to just take pills at 11 and 11 and sure it would be fine.
Does anyone else take these pills at the same time each day?
Am i just turning into a compete mental case?
Any ideas would be great?
Thanks for reading, love x x

You should ask your pharmacist, but I don't see a problem with it. Your body knows what to do with the meds. It is amazing the handfull of pills I take and it all goes where it is supposed to.

I seem to remember that you're not supposed to take it at the same time, but I don't remember why.. it would probably be best to ask the pharmacist.. they'd know better.. it's been years since I've taken either drug, so..

Hello,
I have been taking prednisone and Neoral (cyclosporine) at the same time for years. Just make sure to take it with food as prednisone can really upset your stomach....use to work in a pharmacy too!

I always took mine at the same time (20 years until I was switched to Cellcept). Now with this new trx I take it at the same time as cellcept and Prograf.

Before he got this pneumonia Gregory took his prednisolone and his cellcept together, like this:
in the morning 2x 5ml predisolone and a cellcept (cyclosporin), a sodibic and half a betaloc
then at night half a betaloc, and another cellcept.
Different at present but hopefully he'll get back to this low dose. Hope this helps.

I was told that if you are on a single dose of prednisone (same corticosteroid family as prednisolone), it is best to take it before 9am - in order to follow your body's natural circadian rhythm. (provided you don't work the night shift)
Also, Cellcept is NOT cyclosporine. It is mycophenolate mofetil.
http://www.drugs.com/cellcept.html
Many times Mycophenolate and cyclosporine are given together, but Tacrolimus (Prograf)
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000103
has become more widely used in recent years.
My protocol is: Prograf (4mg), Cellcept (1000mg) and Prednisone (5mg) at 8am and CellCept (500mg) and Prograf (4mg) at 8PM.

blush. that'll teach me to type what gregory says. Useful website btw, this drugs.com.
Doesn't say anything about prednisolone making you shake ... I wonder if the shaking is some other thing then. Hmmm.

hah! you should hear some of the words that come out of my addled mind before I have had coffee in the morning....
My favorite this week while walking out the door at 7:45 am for work, I said "Good Night".
FYI, prograf makes me shake like I have the dt's (which usually leaves me with A LOT of explaining to do when people don't know about my medical issues...)

Cyclosporine used to make me shake almost uncontrollably in the beginning. I remember being yelled at by teachers because I wasn't keeping up with notes, and they just didn't understand that I couldn't write as fast as I could before because of the shaking. That was before they changed the formula. I remember a lot of kids losing their kidneys when they changed over. I was lucky that it didn't affect me.

Prograf is the source of my tremors. It was just reduced this week to 2 pills - 2 times a day. I was told the tremors will get lower as the Prograf level is lowered.
Did you find an answer to taking the pills together? I am not on prednisone, but do take Procraf and Cellcept together. Let us know what you find out.

Fortunately, we all ask what we think are stupid questions, but it is wonderful to get answers so quickly here instead of waiting to call the clinic! We all care about you and want things to go well for you
Let us know how the next lab results look.
