Hi everyone ! This is my first post and I am new here...I just had my PD catheter placed in my body 2 days ago, and while it was painful and sore for the first 2 days, today it is feeling much better.  I will be going into the Dialysis clinic within the next day or so to get the Catheter flushed out and the dressing changed.  I think it will be about 2 weeks before I start doing exchanges, and then I will be using the Baxter Home Choice Machine at home after all my training and everything else progresses as planned.  I have had Chronic Kidney Disease for several years, but just several months ago it got much worse and to the point that i needed to start on dialysis.  I have already been accepted into the Kidney transplant program at my local hospital, and I am officially on the UNOS list now.  Well thats my story in a nutshell so far...thanks for all the info that you all provide on this web site....Gary

In the US and Canada and I would expect also in Australia and New Zealand, some people do hemodialysis at home.  There are different companies that make machines for use at home and Baxter is a big company that makes lots of dialysis equipment and supplies.
Sometimes the home dialysis is done during the night time, long and slow and very good clearances.  The best choice healthwise.

Thanks for the great welcome ! Just to give you all an update, I have been using the Baxter Homechoice Cycler machine for almost a month now, and its working out really well for me.  No problems or issues yet.  I like using the cycler machine much better then doing it the "manual" way, which was 4 times a day. I really enjoy reading everyones posts and comments on this board to ! ....Gary B. :yahoo;
