I am new here

I was told about this website today at dialysis and I can honestly say "I hate dialysis" I have been on dialysis since August 2003 and we are finding out that dialysis is not working for me because my veins are so tiny. I have been through about 24 surgeries in the past year and a half. My catheters keep quitting on me. I did PD before and it did not work but my doctors want to try it again. At the time that I was living in WA state so I was able to get onto the transplant list. Then back in Feb. 2005 we moved from WA to AZ and we wore told that my status would be put on hold till I got down here. Well we found out that the state of AZ will not put me back on active till I lose weight, which my doctors are asking how am I suppose to lose it with all my surgeries? I understand about the weight issue but if the dialysis is not working then what else am I suppose to do? To make a long story short, I am so frustrated and not sure what else to do. I do have an appt. in Sept. to meet with the transplant team in Vegas but the thing is trying to get my insurance to cover it Vegas when I do not live up there. I am just taking it one day at a time. Anyway, thanks for making a place for us to vent. This is great.

Hi nettersinaz, welcome to our site. I share your concern on "tiny" veins. What do we do when they are gone? I would think that we would be promoted on the transplant list, but they have other agendas. (I don't care how trustworthy they sound)
Have fun reading. Ask questions and get answers.

Is your weight mostly fluid?
Due to inadequate dialysis?? if so can't your doctors negotiate with the transplant doctors? Sounds like you are being victimized by some rigid rules!!! Good luck and a warm welcome.
